Yesterday, I used our S970 with my SSV.3 for an assisted living gig. The SSV.3 was back and to my right about 4 feet. I left the SSV.3 on my R&R cart tilted back at a slight angle.

I changed the master EQ on the SSV.3 to emphasize the smile configuration....heavier bass and upper mids/highs.

The gig was in a dining room with an alcove area. The place was packed(maybe 75 folks) with some of the residents seated only a few feet from the SSV.3.

From where I sat, I just loved the sound...wish my Compact(s) sounded as good to me. I kept asking folks in the room if the sound was good/comfortable....all responded in the positive.....even in the alcove area.

Gotta say our S970 sounded great and my SSV.3...??? In the right situations it's the best thing I've heard.

For me, I'm finding when used in the right situations, the SSV.3 is hard to beat.

What is the difference that your SSV3 made you liked in comparison with the Compact? For my Japanese gig last week I wanted to play vArranger and the SSV3. I love the Yamaha EtherealMovie styles that Gary suggested that I use for the Japanese gig. At home, the EtherealMovie styles going through the SSV3 sounded very good. A lot of "acoustic space." However, I had too many pieces of new gear all at once and I decided to not use them that time. The facility has a Bose Compact. I will go back there to play a Cinco de Mayo gig . Just for my own curiosity I might comapre my SSV3 with the Compact.
