Chas, they stopped using those doughnut pillows decades ago - they made things worse.

All the best,

Deane these things are part of the age we are in; I have few friends that ever escape them. The important thing is how we handle them.
The little I know about you tells me you will handle the procedure well.

The best of the best my friend, John C.

Sorry to hear you need surgery Deanne. If it makes you feel any better, I had double hernia surgery on March 11th and although everyone told me it would be awful to do both sides the same time, I really didn't have much pain and I was back at work at my store in a week (although I'm not lifting anything more than a guitar for a while). I'm sure you will do just fine!

Deanne ... Wishing you the best with the surgery and subsequent rehab ... having had 2 knees replaced, I can tell you it is ALL in the rehab ....
My wife had a total hip replacement 3 weeks ago and she is coming along great ... she does the prescribed exercises every day ...
We will be praying for your complete and rapid recovery ...

Thanks Everyone,
I have my appointment with the doctor on April 8th - then the April 12th surgery date. I'll keep everyone updated. Funny how things develop in our lives. 6 months ago I had a major blood test done that only 2 labs in the country do. It shows just about every marker and indicator for about every condition or disease you can think of. When it came back the doctor was shocked. He told me Chemically I was in the very top 1 percent of the healthy people he has ever seen! I take no medications - have seldom been sick and generally always feel great. Good news you would think. Unfortunately, the chemical side of our health has nothing to do with our structural side - thinks like spine problems or skeletal issues. My wife jokingly tells people my warranty has expired. Anyway, life goes on and we always find a way to deal with whatever faces us.

Hi Deane,

I'm sorry to hear that you need surgery and surprised to hear that you need surgery. Your last post gave me the impression you were healing that shoulder with the right exercises?

I'm particularly interested in what's happening with you because I'm going through the same thing.

Is the rotator cuff actually torn to the point it needs surgery? Is that what the MRI showed? The doctor said it won't heal on it's own with exercise.

If your surgery is on April 12, then it's a bit late for this. My doctor suggested I read topics on "mouse shoulder."

shoulder mouse Google search

mouse shoulder article

and my chiropractor gave me one of these to work with. He (and the company itself) said using it will help put the shoulder structure back in place....

Can you tell me more about this? I get blood work done every three months and I'm due to schedule my next one any day now.

Thanks

Mark

Hi Mark,
you have to find an outstanding heart specialist who specializes in the prevention of heart disease rather than the treatment of existing conditions. The test is processed by Cleveland Labs and is designed to show every indicator or marker for potential future health issues. It is not cheap - $3200.00 - but it does not have to be done often. It also covers the usual things tested on normal blood tests. I don't know if the test has a name. I think it is just what the doctor orders.

Mark, my MRI indicated I have two tears. I tried the usual shot in the shoulder and therapy with no indicated improvement. In fact, I seemed to make things worse. So, off to surgery.

Deane

Here is something that everyone should look at seriously. It is the real truth about cholesterol and statin drugs. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XPPYaVcXo1I&list=PL4A6DEDEB07D4CA50

As for a rotator cuff healing on it's own, only a tiny percentage actually do and it usually takes a year or more. Mark, once a rotator cuff is torn, the only remedy is surgery, similar to what happens when a ligament is torn - nothing short of surgery can correct the problem. There is no exercise device, chiropractic procedure or electronic device that can repair the tear. I developed a very minor tear 30 years ago while splitting firewood with a splitting maul - it took a year to heal and hurt like Hell most of that time. The surgeons wanted to do the repair and said it would not likely heal despite it's minor nature. Had I opted for the surgery, I would have been back to normal in six months or less.

Deane, good luck on your surgery and do what they tell you,

Gary cool
