In the past I used Panel Memory in expended mode to select a setup for a song. When playing for people getting to the next song was important; my method was using the Panel Memory.

My questions:
1- Which of the three do you use?
2-Why do you feel it’s the best way to go?
3-What do you use the other two for?

Since I am setting up my recently acquired Kn7000 I am looking for some new ideas.

Thank you, your opinions will be appreciated.

No opinion, but I'd like to remark that yesterday I stumbled over a mentioning of the KN 7000 in a forum and visited several "memorial" websites about it, with demos including the pop production expansion. What a shame such a high-quality instrument and the whole Technics music brand were abandoned in 2003...

Since the KN-7000 is now obsolete and parts are impossible to
get, It's tough to hang on to the keyboard. Technics was ahead
of its time, better styles and arrangements. What a shame it
was disbanded. I owned a KN-7000 and so looked forward to the
next model. I hope yours last for a very long time. Lloyd

This is a comparative review (in German) of KN 7000 and the first Tyros:

Hi John, my method is as follows...I save my registrations for a song in Panel Memory 1 to 8,or part thereof, then save to SD card and record the folder and file no. onto the score sheet. (yes I use the music)! I also use foot pedal (4) to change Panel Memory, forward and back, stop/start rhythm, and Bank increment.
Each time I change songs I open SD card, put in the corresponding no. hit "load", and it takes about 3 seconds to complete.
Very little time taken and works for me.
You can also use just the Bank Increment pedal which gives you 13 changes of 8variations or 26 if you only have 4 registration changes per song saved in Panel Memory, and your songs are sequenced in the order you wish to play.
Hope this is makes sense John

“Since the KN-7000 is now obsolete and parts are impossible to

True, that’s why I sold my last three Kn7000; I felt their time was up. But since I have reached the age of 84 I can’t figure which will go first. (smile)

I appreciate the help I have been given; lots of good food for thought. I am enjoying this journey.

Ray:

Would mind explaining, “then save to SD card and record the folder and file number onto the score sheet”.

Hi John,
1) I set my preferred registrations in Panel memory (can be from 1 to 8, in bank 1, or whichever Bank you desire.
2) Hit "SD Card" (yellow button)and make sure the bank you wish to use is showing on screen,(Banks number from 1 to 10, plus A,B,C, through "Bank" button at Panel Memory),select a folder from 1 to 99. and give it a folder name
3) Then select a song number in that Folder(1 to 20),give it the song title, and hit "save"
I then write on the music, folder and song number "01/01 etc.for quick reference.
4)Repeat from 1) for next song, etc.
When loading song from SD card into keyboard...
1) hit SD button
2) hit "load" on screen
3)On screen, select number saved on music (01/01)by "number button",or select "alphabet" and it will give you all titles starting with that letter in alphabetical order for song title by first letter.
4) Hit "load"', It takes 3 to 5 seconds after yoy hit "load".
All settings which were in the Panel Memory (1 to 8 in Banks 1 to 10,and A,B,C when you "saved"), will be available with each song file you load.
Hope this is more helpful John.

Ray
