Dnj...

Why did you sell the Pa900? I read about the story of getting the S970. But what was your final straw with the Pa900?

Thanks!!

I hear you! I stand to play at my gigs... Still have semi-young knees at 42.

My thing with the display is how low the resolution is... It is almost 2016. With all the low cost, high resolution screens in the electronic market, you'd think the music industry would have caught up by now!

Nope, they are trailing by like 15 years when it comes to hardware... Not only screens but also CPU power, memmory bandwith, networking capabillities... Etc etc...

The hardware of a whole TOTL arranger like Tyros 5 doesnt even cost €150 for Yamaha And thats including keys, screens and buttons... Buy not assembly or software... Just the parts...

We need a keyboard revolution!! Like the DX7 was for Yamaha and the M1 was to Korg. Forget about continuing lines and innovate a keyboard everyone needs. Sell sound updates and enhanced features with clever marketing.

Buy one piece of hardware... Change software to have the keyboard you want!
Yamaha can put in small monitors with the NEXO processing!

So many possibilities!!!

Nice Idea, however Wersi has been doing this for the last 15 years (Lionstracs also tried (Now defunct) but couldn’t make a go of it) and is still going strong, but the fact that the big boys have not followed suit, means it’s probably unlikely in the future. (Let’s face it, it is more profitable to get users to buy a new keyboard every 3 years (Or so) with small improvements added then just providing users with the same improvements via software)

One can but hope

Bill

Keep hoping, Bill. Sure, it's all about the bottom line, and Wersi must have an eye on that. So maybe Wersi should produce something along the lines of the 'big boys', then. Keyboards with the size and built-in styles and sounds of Korg, Yamaha, etc., and price them accordingly. From what I've seen of Wersi so far, the price flat out kills them as much as their adherence to ancient organ sounds.

I know there is/was the Pegasus Wing, but that's about as close as they get. But all I hear is hockey rink organs for the most part, and for how much????

Wersi have been around a long time, so I can only suppose they must be comfortable in their niche. Most of us gigging guys wouldn't touch a Wersi with a ten foot bargepole.

Electronic church organs still cost $100,000 to be pipe organ copy. Small churches of 200-250 active members pay that money because it is worth it to them. Home organist are a small percentage of the market. $10,000 to $20,000 is what they are after. The keyboardist from my generation want a mix of performance/functionality/great tech that works . The same as all of us. The trickle until the well is dry is getting old!!

Yes, I posted on S-Z a number of years ago about the idea of being able to purchase 'menu driven' KB software - styles and sounds that fit YOUR needs, not a lot of stuff you might never use ... but of course the reality is the profits are in selling new gear ...
hmmmm ... But if they charged enough for the software might they not make enough ?

But then, when is enough, ENOUGH ?!?
