Up early, teaching half a day before I went to the gig. Did a gig of Christmas songs they wanted. Thing is, I'm not as familiar with these holiday tunes even though I practiced.

So, I missed more chords and lyrics than I care to admit....combo of being tired and maybe just not being ready as a solo gig.

Christmas gigs, in the past, wife sang; I concentrated on playing.

Crowd was very forgiving, but I was not happy with my performance.

Bottom line, my performance today was average at best. My Tros 4, with its wonderful styles actually rescued the gig.

Sounds strange doesn't it?

But it's true.

Consider it a learning experience and make your next GIG that much better...
we all learn from our mistakes.

Good comments. Everyone has a downer gig at some point I would guess.

I admire your honesty. Everyone has less than stellar gigs on occasion, but we rarely talk about it.

I've certainly never had one. That's my story and I'm stickin' to it!

The person who harshly judges me the most is me. That could make playing out a bit difficult. I’m glad I learned to laugh at my mistakes; they make me play better.

Donny is right on. We learn from our mistakes. After playing a job I would ask my friends how I did. I was not interested in how good I was; didn’t need help with that one – but I did want to know where I could improve.
