This alone will be a reason to upgrade from T5 to T6....

However, i think the feature on the T6 will be more advanced with more then 2 knobs, and a synthworld feature comaparable to the synths we saw in the reface series...

Also the static chord sequence in the 970 should be replaced with a programmable chord sequencer in the T6..

In my opinion, T6 hot new items should be the Deejay/synth feature and the pianoroom features of the CVP series... And a lot of smaller improvememnts all over the place, like new organs (as seen on reface YC) .. And new DP section..

We might even see an 88 key version of Tyros...

Actually, i think that i pretty much figured out how Yamaha works, when it comes to updating instruments, they pull features out of a huge database... They also take care of backward compatibillity... All the above features allready are part of that database..

Also there might be a brand new feature never seen before, like an orchestral feature, with true dynamic orchestral sounds, much like an advanced ensemble feature... Tough, i honestly dont think they will have the processing power for that in their new processors.. Tough Yamaha is a champion in making such a feature, which we know from the kontakt library, extremely playable..

I think there is one thing however which will decide if its a tyros 6 or another name... Amd thats, touchscreen, if it has a touchscreen and a new interface, then it will have a different name...

Maybe i am not right about all these upcomming features, after all its based on assumtions combined with what we know from Yamaha... But i could be closer then you might expect..

Bachus, I pretty much agree with your possible predictions for the next TOLT (Tyros) Yamaha arranger, plus l like your suggestions of the more advanced Ensemble upgrade, Piano Room, and perhaps a touch screen. Touch Screen would really matter for me, as long as the display is larger, and suitable for score display and other detailed functions.

The videos are not clear on the S970 audio multipad link, but it suggests that the audio multipads maybe now have a repeat function and maybe some sync ability to the style tempo. It also looks like perhaps only one audio multipad can sound at a time like on the Tyros 5.

I was hoping that Yamaha could introduce a repeat and sync feature to the audio multipads, plus sync with the time stretch and key change on the audio player/ recorder and the tempo of any audio style being played. Plus possibly allowing more than one audio multipad at a time.

It would be very much appreciated if any S970 owners can confirm if the audio multipads do have a repeat function and if more than one audio multipad can play at a time. Very useful additional features. Nice to have these additional features work their way into the Tyros 6. Certainly looking forward to the next Tyros model.

S970 manual page 79......

You can play the Multi Pad to which the audio file is assigned by selecting them in
the USER or USB tab of the Multi Pad Bank Selection display. Although you can play them via the same operations in page 76,
note the following limitations.

• Make sure to connect the USB flash drive including the corresponding audio files
(WAV).
Automatic repeat playback is not available.
• Only one Pad can be played back at once....
• Chord Match cannot be applied.

I don’t need new features necessarily. No additional knobs or touch screen for me. On a Tyros 6, or whatever it’s called, I’d like more authentic-sounding styles----mainly midi styles. Even tho’ Tyros 5 styles sound richer and fuller than Band In A Box styles------I wish Yamaha would provide some jazz/swing styles with the Freddie Green comping on guitar like BIAB does. And, authentic-sounding walking bass lines, like in their Real Styles. I’d hope for more options on auto-endings. I can do my own intros. And on ballads, and other styles as well-----where the strings or other instruments are sustaining and fading-----make them a little longer like on real recordings. Too many of them, for my tastes, die-out too quickly. I’d like more tweaking of what already exists. Just my ramblings.

Thanks for looking that up for me. So basically the audio links or audio multipads still work the same as on the Tyros 5. Hopefully Yamaha will improve upon these limitations in upcoming models and allow Chord Match, multi audio multipad playback, and repeat. The technology is already within the machine, Yamaha just needs to expand the capabilities. Possibly even through firmware updates.

The new S970 is one fine arranger and great value for the money. Still love the additional features on the Tyros 5 and look forward to seeing and hearing new models as they came out, regardless of make and model.
