And the SD7 is sold as well. I had it five months and was not able to use it reliably on the job. I feel it is now at last ready to sell to the public, but I lost patience.
I will play either the PA3X or Yamaha PSR S-970 for now. I am pleasantly surprised by the Yamaha. It works as it is supposed to when I turn it on, and it sure is easy to carry around. smile

Good choice Don...enjoy the S970...;-)

I did the update this morning and all is good. I have been very pleased with the SD7 from the beginning. Yes, I have noticed a few things that could have been done prior to releasing it but I have been taking it to gigs since July and have my Tyros 4 up for sale because I, along with my audiences, are really enjoying the SD7 sound.

Yesterday I did a requested special all 1940s swing and big band show and it was a blast. Booked 7 other gigs before I left. Enough said.

My update went well also. I was sorry to hear that Don sold his
SD7. I think he would have kept it had the update came a little
sooner. I do like the sounds and styles of the SD7. Lloyd

I found the link to download the firmware. Right now however, I'm only looking for the detailed release notes and I couldn't find them.
(Was the pdf user manual updated to reflect the changes made in the 1.1 update?)

I would like to know more about the rootless chord function, and also more about what changes were made to Live Bass / Bass to Lowest. Thanks!

Here you go ...

KETRON SD 7 - Update Ver 1.1

We have added the following new features as requested by our users:-

1) Style Player: - Found under MENU - Preferences page. In SINGLE mode (default setting) switching from Style mode to Player mode is immediate and intuitive with screen access to style controls (if in style mode) or player controls (if in player mode). If set to MIX mode, the style controls are available in either player mode or style mode (good if you intend to still have access to style controls while selecting an audio or midifile to play).

2) Arranger Transposer:- Within the Registration, you can now save the transpose value applied to the keyboard (Right, Style and Lower parts) and this transposition will not affect Midi files. Press both + and – Transpose buttons simultaneously to access this menu.

3) Registration association enhanced:- You can now associate and link the following files with Registrations - Midifiles, Mp3, Wav, Video, Txt, Pdf, Jpg, Png. Simply set up the keyboard as you would for a song or performance. Then, from the Player menu select (touch once) one of the files you want to save together within the registration and press the Save button. The registration icon will be displayed (in addition to the CUSTOM and FACTORY save options) so you can proceed and save your registration.
Whenever this Registration is recalled, in addition to restoring the right keyboard parts and values, the Player will also be activated and the selected file will be automatically loaded. In the case of Txt, Pdf and Png, the Sd7 will automatically display this file (lyrics, picture) on the screen. In the case of an audio file, it will be played based on the status of the new Player Autoplay mode below

4) Player Autoplay:- (Found in MENU - Regs Set Up – Play Mode screen).
If turned on, any one of the following music files (Mid, Wav, Mp3, Video) that was associated with the Registration will start playing immediately the registration is recalled. In this case, there is no need to start playing the file after the registration has been recalled.

5) Rootless Chord:- This function enables the recognition of complex chords played without the tonic reference (e.g. A triad of F / B / E (with missing root G) will automatically be recognized as a G 13 chord (instead of 7 Fmaj 5b (description with examples are in Sd7’s internal Manual).

6) Footswitch Programmable additions:- Tap Tempo and Autocrash can now be programmed to and controlled by the footswitch

7) Insert EFX Rotary:- Now assignable to Joystick in the Voice Editor

8) New Chord Modes:- New Root recognition of Chords positions & 2 new Chord Modes (Easy 2 and Fingered 2) found under VIEW – CHORD - Mode

We have also improved the following:-

9) Enhanced Styles.

10) Fixed problem with Player while Faders are used.

11) Enhanced Pianist Sustain detection.

12) Removed Right slider volume control link pair from Lead channel of Midi file.

13) Improved conversion from legacy styles (.PAT) to SD7 format styles (.KST).

14) Optimized management on Live Bass and Bass To Lowest features.

15) Fixed abrupt functioning of the Led buttons such Media, Record and Pause.

16) Improved fast forward feature on Mp3 files.

17) Some enhancement when playing Txt, Txt + Mp3 and Midi files.

18) Other minor bugs fixed.

The link for the update has been removed.

My friend travelled miles to get me to update his SD7 because he is not comfortable with doing it himself and the link is no longer available...... wasted journey.

Ketron UK confirm this but do not know why.

Ketron make great keyboards but not enough support.....fact.

Do NOT install this update. It will cause your keyboard to crash. Word is they removed it and are working on corrections.
I didn't install it, but I know personally of two people who did and wish they hadn't.
