KETRON SD 7 - Update Ver 1.1

We have added the following new features as requested by our users:-

1) Style Player: - Found under MENU - Preferences page. In SINGLE mode (default setting) switching from Style mode to Player mode is immediate and intuitive with screen access to style controls (if in style mode) or player controls (if in player mode). If set to MIX mode, the style controls are available in either player mode or style mode (good if you intend to still have access to style controls while selecting an audio or midifile to play).

2) Arranger Transposer:- Within the Registration, you can now save the transpose value applied to the keyboard (Right, Style and Lower parts) and this transposition will not affect Midi files. Press both + and – Transpose buttons simultaneously to access this menu.

3) Registration association enhanced:- You can now associate and link the following files with Registrations - Midifiles, Mp3, Wav, Video, Txt, Pdf, Jpg, Png. Simply set up the keyboard as you would for a song or performance. Then, from the Player menu select (touch once) one of the files you want to save together within the registration and press the Save button. The registration icon will be displayed (in addition to the CUSTOM and FACTORY save options) so you can proceed and save your registration.
Whenever this Registration is recalled, in addition to restoring the right keyboard parts and values, the Player will also be activated and the selected file will be automatically loaded. In the case of Txt, Pdf and Png, the Sd7 will automatically display this file (lyrics, picture) on the screen. In the case of an audio file, it will be played based on the status of the new Player Autoplay mode below

4) Player Autoplay:- (Found in MENU - Regs Set Up – Play Mode screen).
If turned on, any one of the following music files (Mid, Wav, Mp3, Video) that was associated with the Registration will start playing immediately the registration is recalled. In this case, there is no need to start playing the file after the registration has been recalled.

5) Rootless Chord:- This function enables the recognition of complex chords played without the tonic reference (e.g. A triad of F / B / E (with missing root G) will automatically be recognized as a G 13 chord (instead of 7 Fmaj 5b (description with examples are in Sd7’s internal Manual).

6) Footswitch Programmable additions:- Tap Tempo and Autocrash can now be programmed to and controlled by the footswitch

Re: KETRON SD7 - New software 1.1 - 11/13/15 04:05 PM

Registrations can now be tied to (recall) almost any file (pictures, music, video... etc).

Simply ...
* Set your keyboard up (styles, voice, tempo ... the usual).
* Touch the file you want linked to your registration (text, pdf, wave, mp3, jpeg ... etc) and press SAVE - and save your new registration.

*** You can also set in the MENU if you want audio/video files like mp3, mp4, wave ... etc, to start playing IMMEDIATELY the Registration is recalled or if it should be played manually (.ie after the registration is recalled, you still go ahead and press START/STOP).

Hmmmm....

On the Italian keyboard forum I am reading very positive reactions towards this SD7 update. Congratulations to Deane, Don and Loyd, I am sure you will appreciate your Ketron even more now.
And as I seem to recall Don is having the PA4X on order he will soon be in Keyboard Heaven smile smile smile

regards,
John

No I have not ordered the PA4X. I am done being beta tester. If I get one it will be after the first of the year.
And the SD7 is sold as well. I had it five months and was not able to use it reliably on the job. I feel it is now at last ready to sell to the public, but I lost patience.
I will play either the PA3X or Yamaha PSR S-970 for now. I am pleasantly surprised by the Yamaha. It works as it is supposed to when I turn it on, and it sure is easy to carry around. smile

Don, Sorry to hear you sold the SD 7. Now with the update l.1 you might have found it working much better. I emailed you
about how you liked the update but now you have sold it I guess you cant answer that inquiry. Lloyd

I did answer you, and, as I said, I feel the update has finally made it worthy of selling to the public. I wasted five months trying to get it where I could use it, and as I said, enough is enough.

Re: KETRON SD7 - New software 1.1 - 11/14/15 11:56 AM

I did the update this morning and all is good. I have been very pleased with the SD7 from the beginning. Yes, I have noticed a few things that could have been done prior to releasing it but I have been taking it to gigs since July and have my Tyros 4 up for sale because I, along with my audiences, are really enjoying the SD7 sound.

Yesterday I did a requested special all 1940s swing and big band show and it was a blast. Booked 7 other gigs before I left. Enough said.

My update went well also. I was sorry to hear that Don sold his
SD7. I think he would have kept it had the update came a little
sooner. I do like the sounds and styles of the SD7. Lloyd

Re: KETRON SD7 - New software 1.1 - 11/14/15 08:25 PM

I found the link to download the firmware. Right now however, I'm only looking for the detailed release notes and I couldn't find them.
(Was the pdf user manual updated to reflect the changes made in the 1.1 update?)

I would like to know more about the rootless chord function, and also more about what changes were made to Live Bass / Bass to Lowest. Thanks!

Re: KETRON SD7 - New software 1.1 - 11/16/15 06:51 AM

The link for the update has been removed.

My friend travelled miles to get me to update his SD7 because he is not comfortable with doing it himself and the link is no longer available...... wasted journey.

Ketron UK confirm this but do not know why.

Ketron make great keyboards but not enough support.....fact.

Do NOT install this update. It will cause your keyboard to crash. Word is they removed it and are working on corrections.
I didn't install it, but I know personally of two people who did and wish they hadn't.

Re: KETRON SD7 - New software 1.1 - 11/16/15 02:32 PM

Thank you for the offer AJ but my friend has returned home disappointed and can not get back until next week.

I just want to say (without any bitterness or malice)
I have owned and either returned or re-sold 3 Ketron keyboards (including SD7) because of faults on each one.

I agree with Don that we should not be used to Beta Test these keyboards and to wait 5 months for an update and then for Ketron to remove the update within a day or so without any explanation just sums up the Ketron way.

Say what you will about Yamaha and Korg keyboards but generally when they are released they work pretty much as they should from day one...if Ketrons did that then they would be my number one choice but I play for a living and reliability is paramount.

I am not knocking Ketron...I love the way they sound.. but until they become as reliable as the big two players I for one will not be purchasing another one.
