Ricky Peterson.....great soulful organist and all-around great keyboard player. My kind of groove.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rxjhKMD8qI8 (Steve Lawrence and Edie Gorme are probably turning over in their graves about now smile )

and (great solo funk organ)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nuSGRnX5EUU&feature=youtu.be

So when is 3 greater than 5? When the "3" is a B3 and the "5" is a T5 smile smile.

chas

PS: Don't worry Boo. They only get mad at ME for saying stuff like that smile smile smile.

Oh yes, it's also THE PLAYER.

How in the world did I miss Ricky? Plays and sings GREAT!

Probably, the pure B-3 players don't consider him direct competition because he's so great on vocals.

Joey D and others should "move over".

Nice find, Chas.

Here's another little gem by Ricky with David Sanborn with Ricky playing WHAT!...a Nord C1 (I've got one gathering dust back in my storeroom - available btw smile ).

BTW, for those that like this type of music, did you pick up on how much a great percussionist (playing over a great 'pocket' drummer) adds to the GROOVE. In my next life, I'm only going to play in groups that have a great percussionist smile.

..and yeah Tony, one of my favorite sax guys for a long, long, time.

I really enjoy watching percussionists ... they add so much to an arrangement ...

Here's a version from the 1998 Newport Jazz Festival ... I was there, had no idea who the 'keys' player was, only that he was really good ...

All good stuff.
The only time I play one song for over 8 minutes is when I space out and lose track of time.
