Hi DNJ,

Tx for the styles. Always welome smile

The S970 onboard styles mostly sound better on the S950 unconverted, as those unclude the new effects on the guitar voices which is quite good. I would really like an unconverted copy of the above. (buildtofly@yahoo.com if you maybe would) The S950 plays most of those S970 modified voices accurately as is. There are very, very few styles with any voices in it that the S950 cannot play. (maybe four of five only)

In my opinion, the only reason the S970 sounds better than the S950 is because of the better & newer mix of it's styles. I feel a LOT better now. The S970 does not have the Tyros human choir voices, so no big deal really.

Oh yes, & off course there are a few new DJ loops & dance multipads. But then these also play well on the S950. As for the other new functions: I really have no special need for them. So for me, coming from the S950: it's either a Tyros 5 or no upgrade at all.

I say again, one of the reasons I like Yamaha is the fact that the styles of the newer models play reasonably well on the older models. With i.e. Ketron, this is not even possible as it seems you can play the older styles on the newer models, but not the other way around. They are actually shooting themselves in the foot with this limitation they put on their newer models. No wonder Yamaha is doing so well with their sales in comparison. There should be ABSOLUTELY no reason why the SD7 styles should not also play well in the bigger, flagship Audya apart from greed which works against them in the long run.

I think that the S970 has 8 more Mega!Voices but they're all guitars, basses, and strings. No new category of Mega! Voice. So the styles should sound fine on the S950. Many of them will sound a little better on the S970 because of the Real Brushes and because of some additional DSPs.

The dance styles might be another story. I don't play them, but I notice that there are many new synth sounds on the S970.

Hi again,

I think I can safely state that Yamaha has successfully made a major shift towards making the new PSR S970 also more attractive to the much younger players. Much, much more newer & more modern stuff on there than ever before in any previous PSR series. Well done Yamaha!

Will not work, because those dance styles are miles away from what the younger people think is dance music

Hi Dnj,

I shared these somewhere. However, I would like to give credit to the person who extracted & assembled these as it is a LOT of work. If you care, please let me know in private at my email as per above. I always give credit where it is due.

Even only a first name will do for my purposes.

Thank you so much,

Henni

Hi again Dnj,

No one over at that thread knows who the author is. I'm still searching & you're the only one in the know.

Those are indeed the S970 audio styles converted to the S950. Not the Tyros 5 audio styles as I already have those. Neither the onboard S950 audio styles.

Someone went through a LOT!!! of work to create these. I shared his work & I cannot even give the man proper credit. It really is a shame though.

In any case, I realize anew Yamaha is the absolute master when it comes to styles. Just in the last three weeks, I found a zillion very, very good new styles for my S950. This more than makes up for the new SD7 & S970 which I cannot afford at the moment. I too have my share of excitement amidst all of this!

Henni,....I understand ...but honestly I as you don't know who actually did this conversion either,......I can't even remember where I received them from as I get so many emails per day here.
So it remains a mystery for now,...but I'm sure in the future more clues will turn up & maybe we can identify the author. meanwhile enjoy the gift. Btw have you tries them on the S950 and how do they compare to the original S950 Audio styles?

Hi Dnj,

ALL!!! of the S970 styles sound amazing on the S950. It plays more than 99% of the new voices accurately as is & Yamaha did a splendid job in remixing these Tyros 5 like styles.

Really, even if most new Yamaha arrangers borrow many styles from the previous models, they just sound so much more realistic with each model upgrade. I am once again in arranger heaven. I doubt if anything currently out there beats Yamaha's arranger guitar voices & effects! And they make good use of these in most of their styles.

Henni glad your enjoying Yamaha,.....
& yes their Guitars are hard to beat ....
they produce a very tight & efficient arranger KB all around.
Yes there are a few "PERSONAL" things each player wishes for but all in all for my needs it all works !!

take care

I just a chance to try the converted S970 audio styles on my S950 and I have to say many of them are much improved from their former counterparts,...different Intros/Endings and overall EQ tweaking give them a fresh new sound & feel.
It will actually turn your S950 into a S950+.... keys

I swapped a few with the older versions also.......... cool2

I am confused. Are the styles at beginning of this post from the 950 and converted for older keyboards or are they from the 970 and converted for the 950?

If anyone would share the S970 files with me for my S950 it would be hugely appreciated.
Thank you.

If you wanna really hear the difference listen to the 6/8 slow rock of the s970 vs YOUR s950..especially the guitars.
I'm sure you'll swap them out for sure.
