I have a Technics PR900 and couldn't resist getting a PR804. The music store was closing up for business and got a good price. Anyway, I found out the PR804 will not load PR900 disks (I have a lot). The only way to get these to work is to find someone with the following: PR602, PR702 or PR902. The PR703 and PR903 will work, but was told the "2" series will work better. That person could load the PR900 technics format song files then resave as a PR902. Then the PR902 files will load into the PR804. If anyone is interested please let me know and maybe something can be worked out.

I'm not sure but maybe the PR900 files can load/save into a KN5000, then to the PR804. The instruction manual says KN6000 files and up will not load into the PR804, nothing about the KN5000...
Thanks, Anthony

Hi Anthony,

KN7000 files (and presumably KN6000 files) with the exception of Custom Style Files (.AST and .CST)will load into the PR804 but not the other way round. You can however load PR804 files into a KN7000 if you use a HEX editor to change Instrument ID at the begining of each file from the PR804 ID (RH or R H) to the KN7000 ID (JK or J K). This will not work for the KN6000 or earlier instruments. I haven't experimented with PR900 nor do I have any information on PR900 file compatibility.

Cheers
Len C.

Hi Len.

Thanks for the info. Looking for someone who's interested in converting over my PR900 files to PR602/702/902 then I can take those and load into the PR804 and have these available. The PR603/703/903 will work also, but the "2" series is what's more compatible. Their technics library would grow too.

Found out the KN5000 is not compatible with the PR804, and you are right about the KN6000/6500/7000. Now if only the PR900 files would load and save in KN6000 format. I could go that route.

Right now the PR900 composer files will load into the PR804. I have to setup the sound and effects, by reading the information from the PR900 and then putting that on the PR804. This will take forever.

I do have a hex editor, I wish there was away to load the PR900 panel memory into the PR804 and tricking it thinking it was a compatible file.

Anthony
