I want to upgrade my rented Korg PA 600 to the latest OS. The Korg support site offers downloads for OS 1.20 or factory restore for 1.20. Since I haven't made any changes can I use the factory reset?

Tony and Don, I'm sure you both upgraded your 900's. What would be my best choice? My instinct tells me factory reset, but I wanted to check with you before doing anything foolish as I have read of problems with the upgrade. Praise the Lord/Graham lost complete use of his keyboard.

God Bless,
Don

Are you sure you are reading it right? I think maybe it's Resources instead of Restore.
I did the update on PA900 with no problem, but I did not do the new Resources.
Tony did both and it seems to have moved some styles around to different locations. Maybe it has some new ones.
I didn't do the Resources update because I had edited a number of factory styles and added some of my own to factory locations, and I would have lost all that and had to reload them. Didn't want to take the chance as I was really busy working at the time.
The primary reason I wanted the update was that it restored the fingered 3 mode, that had been left off the original OS.

Don ... before you do ANYTHING do a 'FULL RESOURCE BACKUP' and save it on a USB ...
I obviously made some error when I did the latest Pa900 upgrade, because a lot of things got switched around ... Song titles in my custom playlists were looking in the right place for the associated style, but the style was no longer there ... Sometimes KORG might add a new style or two and change the locations of the styles ... If you want to upgrade and don't care if any new styles are going to be added, do the OS upgrade WITHOUT the resources ...
Doing the Factory Restore for 1.20 might have some new styles, and potentially cause a 'location' problem
Whatever you do, you would have your current settings to go back to if necessary ...
Hope this helps ...

Thanks guys. I went with the OS update downloaded to USB and then followed instructions on the YouTube video manual. Worked like a charm. After updating I starting creating a set list for an upcoming seniors concert. I've got 5 of my own song settings but I can't seem to change the STS voices. Also when moving from one of my set songs to another if I don't press STS 1 my keyboard sound will be the one I just used on the previous song. Is that normal?

Don, the instructions for the Pa900 say you need to do a Factory Restore of Global settings to complete the upgrade.

Sounds like an STS Mode setting. Check that out in the manual and experiment with different settings, but the light should be flashing so that it will allow the STS to change with the song. Sounds like your light is solid on.

Well, you can do the upgrade without doing the Factory Resource Restore. I didn't want to lose my custom styles that I had loaded into factory locations. Sooner or later, I will save them to where they are easily restored, and then update the resources. Not sure what I'm missing if anything.
