I am trying a very simple connection to my sound module which is set to channel one. I have my cable connected from Midi out on the KN7000 to Midi in on the module. I went through all of the Midi setup pages, and designated KN as the master. Everything is channel one, but no sound. I hookup the same way with my controller kb and it works fine.

The KN7000 has very good Midi capability, and it is merely a "note on" transfer. Any ideas ?

Does your sound module need to be set (to channel 1) too? My Roland XV5050 will receive on any channel so that I have to set it to same as the KN.

Bernie, check;
1-Midi channels on both units must be the same. It’s like a phone line, the same line/channel.
2-If your other unit worked well than the Kn7 midi out put must be changed.
3-Make sure it is midi out from your Kn7 and midi in on the other unit.

It has been a long time since I played with midi – it was never what they told you, it was what they did not say that got me confused.

Hope this helps my friend, John C.

Both units on CH 1, cables right. Maybe there is a setting that is preventing the transmission. Everything is on #1,both units.

Hi Bernie,
it's been a couple of years since I had a kn7,so can't remember settings.
You've got KN set as master, but what slave setting have you used??
Is there one for sound module ? & one for computer? try both , and also make sure that you use the setting that doesn't send the accompaniment styles via midi.

I'm also fairly certain you can actually create your own setting in one of the midi setting type pages.

Unfortunately without a keyboard or manual I'm relying on rather poor memory.

best wishes
Rikki
