Today I played 3 2-hour gigs. When I started the first gig my iPad Air was charged 100%. I just got home and it is now at 46% charged. That is 6 hours plus about 30 minutes of use on 54% of the full charge - not bad.

What screen shutoff timer setting do you have it set for?...agreed tablets although not as versatile as a laptop without a tactile keypad definitly have better battery life.

I don't use the auto off features. I have all the auto shutdown and screen saver features turned off.

Thanx Deane so you just go "full bore" all thru the gig.....
no interruptions. Nothing worse then a screen saver popping up mid song lol...

That is exactly right. It never gets turned off or goes into a screen saver mode.

Glad it got you through all those gigs in one day!! I turn off 3G and WiFi too, when doing a gig with my iPad, to save battery life and prevent emails and notifications from interrupting!

I too turn off the wi-fi and anything else I can disable. This was a real test for my iPad Air and I am very pleased with the results. I generally don't take my charger on my gigs but did have it with me yesterday - just in case. I am also using UnrealBook - great app.

I leave everything on with my laptop. Well, screen saver is off. I have a power strip mounted with power supplies for everything, including laptop, phone, pad, digital recorder, mixer, etc. Everything remains in place and plugged in all the time.
I have laptop tethered to internet to my phone's hotspot for use when there is no Wifi available.
That way I can read SZ while playing Brown-eyed Girl for the ten thousandth time!
