One of the 'Zoners' on the Gen Arr KB forum did what I think is a remarkable job of a jazz tune on a Tyros2: http://www.synthzone.com/ubbs/Forum37/HTML/013942.html

The drum solo comes from a style on the Ty2. Are there any technics performance pads available that might accomplish something like this?
PS I play a kn6000.
thnx mch,
t.

Since you can copy a track from a midi file and put it into a pad, I believe there is no end do what you can do with the Pads.

Listen to a song (midi file) then pick out the parts you find interesting. A drum break – a trumpet solo --- a guitar riff ---whatever.

It is a little involved, this would be a great subject for the 2007 JAM.
My keyboard became 60% more interesting when I learned how to use the pads.

Bruno123 hi,

How do you use your pad?

Do you use it with its style or separate?

I currently use the KN 7000 build in style and its own pads that comes with it, example I choose Polka 2/4 and as I play I choose different pad from the front panel.

Thanks for your time,
Doron

Doron,
I have used a pad with:

1-Ride cymbal.
2-Finger snaps.
3-Guitar chords on all four beats.
4-Heavy bass drum and snare.
5-A 12 bar blues progression.
6-A IIm7 V7 progression.

I have used this six-pad set-up with many different kinds of styles. A bass drum on 1 and 3 with a snare on 2 and 4 can fit in a variety of styles.

John C.

Thanks for your time,
Doron

Also, don't forget the sequencer and the editors for the sequencer and composer. Plus, you can take a pad loop and build it into a whole new style. It's been so many years since I did that I don't remember how I did it!

Thanks all for the insight.

Does every preset style on the KN 7000 has its own preset Pads?

Does the pads get loaded separate than the style as a separate file name?

Thanks for brining me up to speed using the PADS!

Many thanks,
Doron

Hi Tony,
creating pads on a kn is not very difficult.
From memory I used to use a function called
seq to pad??
Iwas just a case of loading a midifile into sequencer, then copying the bars you required into a pad.
Some settings had to be adjusted etc etc

I much prefered kn7 pad function to psr pad function.
Can't comment on TYros 2 pads, but the kn7 pads leave my psr1500 pads for dead.
I'm going to have to create some of my own ( psr that is) , there's plenty of good source material out there if you don't want to start from scratch.

best wishes
Rikki
