As far as I know, it's much the same as on the Tyros4 and S950.

One thing I'm glad they fixed on Tyros4, and S950 (and quite likely it's repaired on Tyros5) was that annoying hiccup when you added the harmony while singing a note.

For the limited amount of harmony work I use it for (as when I have a guest singer) it works pretty good, but I'm also careful not to use it too much, as, with any harmonizer, too much is usually WAY too much.

I like using it as a Vocoder, which it does magnificently well, especially on certain sounds.

I believe that those who are really fussy will still use outboard harmonizer units, but for basic usage, I think the VH-2 is quite serviceable.

I'm sorry but...Unless someone can prove to MY ears that VH2 has been improved and up to par on the quality of the TC Helicon or Digitech units tracking & harmony quality the jury is still out for me.

No need to apologize, Donny...these are only our opinions.

I wouldn't say the VH-2 is up to the quality of Helicon or Digitech units. I remember using a Digitech harmonizer many years ago, in the late 80's, I believe, and it was pretty good back then, so they have many years of experience that goes towards making their product an excellent unit.

I also said, those really fussy about harmony will usually go with one of the above outboard units, but for general purposes, the VH-2 works a treat for me and many others.

So, if you must have the best...get a Helicon or Digitech.

For people like me, who only use the harmonizer for the very basics, and for vocoding, it works pretty good, and I don't need to hook up extra equipment.

It does pay however, to dig into the VH-2 and customize the presets, as it can make a big improvement, but, again, still not up to the Helicon and Digitech.

I'm not much of a fan of the harmonizer in general, as none sound totally realistic to my ears, and many people tend to overuse them.

The presets are fruitless it needs a major redesign tracking is hit or miss most times......
Yamaha should co design VH with TC Helicon for sure. Yamaha makes a great sounding T5 arranger why shouldn't the VH be just as good. Io see Korg has NO problem with that feature or the songbook vs the MFD.

Korg does it better...no argument there.

Yamaha will probably never change...people have been complaining for years, and it hasn't done any good.

Yep...I guess it's how each company looks at the market and their target customer.

They also do things that make no sense to us users, but, there is probably a reason behind it...probably money.

Maximum profit is always the goal.

It is often taken to the extreme, but it IS about the bottom line ...
