I also really enjoy Daniel Lanois's pedal steel work...some with Brian Eno, and, on his own albums. Very creative use of the instrument.

It's hardly "funk" but certainly not Country....more of a experimental nature...spacey kind of material.

Pink Floyd's David Gilmour, and Steve Howe, from the band Yes, are also lap and pedal steel players.

It certainly is a sound that lends itself to all kinds of music.

George Harrison and Ringo Starr were big Country music fans, and Harrison hired the famous Nashville pedal steel player, Pete Drake to play a part in the production of Harrison's "All Things Must Pass" album.

Pete also produced a Country album for Ringo Starr.

So, ya never know....

Ian

Yep... I'm a huge Robert Randolph fan (seen him several times), and have had the pleasure of seeing Steve Howe and Yes tear up the lap steel.

But I have a feeling that Don and Gary didn't have those guys in mind!
