In general NAMM is not the time and place to introduce new arranger gear, i would not expect anything much...

But the Synth and workstationmarket sure could use some new things..
I am realy expecting a new Motif and for yamaha to catch up to Korg..
Korg is in a good position right now with the Kronos, no reason to expect anything.
I have beeen wayting for NI to introduce a hardware master controller for their Komplete VST synth line..
Roland will not be at NAMM and their 15 January event will probably not have shocking keys news.
Kurzweil definately needs a new big hit..

The only thing that really excites me is a possible new Motif... am am anxious to see if they finally upgraded their AWM stuff to the 21st century and give synth fans something challenging and new... or that its nothing more then just a minor evolution of the current Motif, putting Yamaha another mile behind Korg when they release their new products later this year or early 2015

Roland will NOT be at NAMM??? Where did you get that information from? It can't be true. In the rolandclan forum I read they are going to have two booths, so they scaled down but will be present.

Let me say it different... Roland will not present anything new at the NAMM, as they will do so in their online event of 15 January..

The world is the same place if you dream, or if you don't. Only your PERCEPTION of it changes...

And dreaming of unfulfillable things means your perception will generally be of disappointment. I prefer a bleaker outlook, then I tend to be proved right more often!

I'm sure glad I look at things from a much more positive aspect. In my mind I thought of all those tiny islands along the way to the Florida Keys as jewels in the sea. I was NEVER disappointed.

With a few exceptions, the same outlook seemed to be true with the vast majority of the people I met along this incredible journey called "Life."

Thus far, I haven't been disappointed with any of the newly introduced musical instruments, or any of the associated equipment that is featured at the shows every year.

Maybe, though, I'm easier to please than some individuals. wink

Cheers,

Gary cool

I heard from a good source that Kurzweil might be unvailing a new K3000. I would love to see a new flagship keyboard from them, It would be very interesting to see what they come up with. It would have to be a great board from what they've had through-out the past years.

Totally agree with Don !
I only buy something great for my ears
and to know if something is great or not for ME
I always GO and TEST it first before speaking and deciding

You could easily replace 'bleaker' with 'realistic', if it makes you feel less sorry for me!

It is, 99% of the time, the correct outcome.

Generally, especially at this time of the year, wild, unrealistic scuttlebutt gets all the press. Then 'reality' sets in. Same ol', same ol'.

If you live your life always expecting 'something great' to come out by the arranger manufacturers, either, like Gary, you need very low expectations, or you live in a constant state of disappointment.

Personally, my life is VERY happy, because I am not expecting it to suddenly become wonderful... it already IS! I live in Paradise (although a little chilly the last few days!), play music for a living (done so all my life). I don't need the tenuous promise of new gear to feel great. Quite happy with what I have...

I am HAPPY to hear that ... grin

... unfortunately or fortunately - I'll let my audience decide - my keyboard is only as good as it is going to be in MY hands ... keys

Roland recently registered a new trademark called 'AIRA' for sound modules and effect processors.
http://www.trademarkia.com/aira-86110447.html

I think it's a good sign regarding NAMM or later. It would be absolutely great if something as compact as the SonicCell with virtual SRX boards would be developed.

For arrangers, I feel there is a likelihood of an arranger module with iPad compatibility from Roland.

I think this NAMM will see synths and sound modules from the big three

I do wish for an Integra 3 or Integra 5 but the names are already taken. laugh

Integra 3

Integra 5

Sorry.. but I really think that`s why they registered "Aria" smile

Fingers crossed.

Jez

It seems pretty much impossible at least in the U.S.A. to be able try out all the current model arrangers. Sometimes you just have to take a leap of faith.

I use an MPC quite a lot. Plus a ton of beatbox software. Playing to old people is what makes you old, not age!

1.
ugotz
Italian slang for the word "nothing"
1. I got killed in A.C. this weekend. I walked out of there with ugotz.

2. What kind of bonus did you get this year?

"Yeah what bonus? They gave us ugotz."

Tony, I am afraid that it's a very dirty word... basically it's a dialectal form for the word indicating the male genital organ. So "sitting at home doing gotz" would actually be (in italian): "seduto a casa facendo un c...o" . In english the closest correspondence would be "doing a f..k" (not the same exact meaning, but the same verbal strength).
I heard this expression in a few episodes of The Sopranos and was both amused and shocked when I saw that Tony Soprano had named his boat Stugotz.
