I would like to know if anyone has played this Christmas song on an arranger. what style would you / did you use ?

It depends on if you’re doing a concert/performance or just playing dance music. If the latter, any 4/4 would fill the bill. Even a polka beat.

One day I realized no one in the audience ever really listens to the drum track....it’s the melody they hear.

How I make a 4/4 beat work is use the fills a lot, often for 4-8 measures, and....turn off the “auto-arranger start when you hit the left keys (I forgot what you call it)” I.e. set it so you bring the rhythm in only for as long as you hold the left keys down. Just jab at the left hand. I do that on the “release part of the song” on the 1st and 3rd beats….then eventually back to the steady rhythm on the A part of the song.

P.S. I wrote that BEFORE I listened to the video. I'm not much of a Tyros fan, but I could see how that track was especially made for the song. And it really works well.

But I stick to what I said if you don't have a rhythm track like that that's doing all the work for you.

I also use a lot of "bells" and strings and other sounds to mask a basic rhythm....IF that's all you have available.

I have to say one good thing about the Tyros. They make wonderful styles that are mainstream and carefully thought out. They really do the job for a standard listening/dancing audience. The Korg styles are too complicated and too sterile and......too busy!

As I'm listening to this Sleigh Ride arrangement, I'm realizing the Tyros has everything you need to make you want to play great music rather than locking you up in technology mode.

Everyone plays Jingle Bells at Christmas - just play it using the same style - should fit perfectly.
