This is something I do weekly as a ritual for the last 40+ years,,...I screw off my stage mic screen heads remove the foam insert and put the screens into boiling water to remove the crud, bacteria, dirt, etc,...take it out and use a small brush on it in case there's anything in between the screen, Then take it to the sink and use the high speed spray inside running it thru the screen.......as for the foam inserts I just lightly run under tap water to remove any dirt.
Dry everything off with a paper towel and your done for another week of singing!! singer

No screen to boil with mine, but I change the cover every week, wipe the mic head with a soft cloth dampened with bleach water, and wash the foam cover with bleach water.

Yeah thanks for the idea. Some of my mics are 10 years old and never received such royal pampering.

Hey, I tried some of those cleaning tips. People usually say I sound like Rod Stewart, now it's more like Petula Clark! wink

I think it was Uncle Dave that first posted that he had looked beneath the mic screen and discovered an alien life form had taken up residence there. Until then, I never really thought about it because I was the only person using my mic. The wind screen on the Crown CM311A is about the only thing you can safely immerse, but you can wipe the top of the mic screen with bleach water or disinfectant and not damage the mic.

Cheers,

Whether one person uses it or not,.....germs , siliva, crud, it should be cleaned as it is an essential piece of gear in your rig. Just the same as cleaning your keyboard with a dry/damp paper towel weekly also as the buildup of hand oils, and air particles build on the keys & the case,....something about a squeaky clean keybed, inside speaker horns etc, that turns me on blush lol.....
rule of thumb,......If You USE IT...... CLEAN IT!! cool2

I agree, Donny. I clean the keyboard weekly with canned air, then wipe everything down with Endust for Electronics. Saves a lot of grief.
