The UPS truck just delivered my first BK-9. I'm going to unpack it now and will report back as soon as I spend a little time with it.

Make sure you hook up an EV-5 to it, George! Love to hear your take on the Hammond section.

My big peeve with the G70's VK organ section was that it was very difficult to get it to sound beat up, warm and overdriven. Some of the BK-9 organ demos sound pretty good, though. What do you think?

Hey George...Can you tell me if the keys are like the Juno Stage and Jupiter 50?
Are there metal weights under the keys?
Thanks..

Fran,
You're gonna love the keybed "Ron Johnson" says. The metal plates are under the keys. It's Italian made. Ron came in as soon as he saw my post. He drove 1 1/2 hours to get here. He owns a Tyros4 and BK-5 and RD-700 and he loves this board. It has all the best of the RD supernatural pianos which he cares a lot about. It has 1 piano from each of the 3 piano samples from the RD700. Ron just told me it keeps with the warmth of the G70 piano but brings in the newer technology. We also love the supernatural classical guitar sound.......Wow! The chord sequencer is a no brainer. So easy to use. XLR Microphone sounds great coming through the keyboard using the built in reverb. SA1,2,3 and 4 buttons are similarly programed to have superarticulation nuances on the buttons and on the drawbar organs they are programed to be leslie on and off, speed fast and slow, percussion on and off, etc. Playing the supernatural alto sax right now and it's great and using the S1,2,3 and 4 buttons manipulate the sounds. Phantom power switch on back next to XLR/combo1/4" jack is a plus. So far, we like this a lot. More to come

Diki,
On Preset number 6 in the drawbar menu if you hit the button called H.Bar it takes you into all the parameters of the drawbar organ and on the main page there is a word "overdrive" and next to it a value 0-128. This allows you to quickly add or remove as much of the overdrive as you wish. EASY!

George, I suppose it definitely does not have vocal harmonizer. Is that correct?
Thanks,
DonM

Diki, on the G70 H-bar organ..try the overdrive set at 45 and the leakage at mid 70's...

Don,
It does not have a vocal harmonizer. It does have a dedicated mic volume and mic reverb knob on the front of the keyboard. On page 22 of the owners manual Roland gives you the steps for connecting a Roland VE-5(optional) vocal performer between a mic and the XLR mic input on the back of the BK-9.

The biggest feature I'm looking at on the BK-9 is the Performance List... plus the light weight.

How easy is it to create a performance list.
WAV - mp3 - AIFF - SMF - Layered Sound - Style ... whatever order I need.

Can you save the list to thumb drive/External HD? Limitations?

I want to be able to preset my sets... save them to refer to or use later. Create a 6 song list for my church worship leading gig. Create a 13-16 song gig list for the local 40 minute shows we do. I have a bunch of sequences created on 4 different workstations. I want to organize my 200 to 300 songs in an easier to select list than one big list in alphabetical order.

Thanks!!

Johnathan , it appears to be the same as the BK5...making it a piece of cake to do what you want..
