... what a tragedy ... Our prayers go out to all involved ...
RI had a similar incident in 2007 due to pyrotechnics at a club featuring the band 'Great White' ... 100 dead, 230 injured, 132 unharmed ... there were about 50 people over the legal limit in the club ... The band manager who set off the fireworks got 4 years in prison plus 11 on probation ...

My perspective on this type of activity at musical events is that it should never be allowed. Lets face it, if the band is so talentless that they cannot captivate their audiences without setting off fireworks, they shouldn't be on stage to begin with. I feel the same way about performers that need to be surrounded by half-naked women making provocative gestures to the singer. More often than not it's a song with less than four non-profane lyrics, and a total of 10 different words in the entire song.

Guess I'm getting old,

Gary ... I don't think the problem is that the entertainers aren't talented enough - although that might be true in some cases- , but the entertainment buyers are always looking for something more spectacular, exciting, over-the-edge ... all too often it is NOT about the music, but the TOTAL experience - which must touch ALL of the senses ...

... and yes, we ARE getting oldER ... wink
