if only arrangers could take advantage of VST's and this modeled piano

here's an incredible piano

videos are a little long, but worth watching
explains sampled (large libraries) vs. the Modeled Instruments

sounds are from the VST , his laptop

i think for Audya to be able to handle this
it would FIRST need a big time hardware update
a processor, CPU that could handle it, and lots of memory to go along with it smile

just my $0.02 for whatever that's worth

Pianoteq has come on in leaps and bounds since it first came out, however if I were really into piano I would still go with Pianissimo as I find it to be more flexible. (You can download trial versions of both)

When I used to a single core Pentium and 2GB Ram in my Abacus it ran Pianoteq with commensurate ease (You wouldn’t have known you had anything extra loaded) and as the latest version is even more CPU efficient I wouldn’t worry about running out of steam.

NOTE: Sound modelling is more tied to CPU than memory, whereas sampling not surprisingly puts more pressure on memory rather than CPU.

Using disk streaming (Which has been the standard for donkey’s years with sample VSTis) you will find you will not need masses of Ram, but like all things the more you have the merrier. (Just don’t go overboard)

thanks Bill

ye, i think what makes pianoteq awesome is the velocity, 127 (midi)

whereas samples (for Audya at least), you're talking 4-6 velocities

the more velocity the better at least for a great piano

Pianissimo sounds great too, but this 1 sound alone will take up 250MB as they are samples

do you have 250MB RAM available in your Audya? wink
