Regular country club job NYE. All New Years Even Day (starting at 2:30 AM on Sunday morning, actually, I'll be in Louisville, working on the score for a video annual report for a national restaurant chain. I'll finish up about 6:00 PM and head for Lexington. At 1:00 AM, a bunch of us gather at the Shrine Temple to play big band music for an all night breakfast-jam session. The Temple has a big band, but hires us so they can enjoy the evening.

I'll finish up about 8:00 AM on Monsay-48 straight hours, except for brief "cat naps" between takes/tracks.

Too set in my ways to do it any other way.

I already did 1 New Years party on the 27th. On NYE I have a 2 hour party at an upscale independent living facility. This is a really fun group of people. I will be finished at 10, just in time to get down to our town house right on the Inner Harbor where we a having a little NYE party. Baltimore's fireworks take place right off of where the townhouse is located so we all go up to the roof for ring side seats. It's a great evening. Then on Jan 1st, I have another 2 hour party that I've been doing for the past 15 years. Thank God for no more loud and raunchy parties with a bumch of drunks!

Happy New Year everyone!

Joe

When we had the band in NY we gigged every NYE and would save the first Saturday in January for OUR NYE party ... we would even go outside at midnight and bang on the pots with Guy Lombardo's "Auld Lang Syne" blasting in the background ... good thing not too many people were sleeping at midnight on a Saturday in NY ... rotfl

Working NYE my regular private club gig with a quartet. Like Steve quoted above, we play 50's, 60's, standards, latin, and some country. Also, must satisfy a group of ballroom dancers.

Larry sounds like a fun gig....how do you use your arranger Kb with the quartet?

I used s950 on several Christmas parties and did fine. People seem to like it. I brought the PA3X for NY's eve though.
Can't go wrong with either one, but I can't see parting with the Korg yet.
