I have a few hundred wav files, many with unequal volume levels. Does anyone have a suggestion for a stand alone program or application that would balance or "normalize" these files? I've heard of Wav Normalizer and WaveGain, but found no user reviews. Any help appreciated.

Audacity will do what you want on single files http://audacity.sourceforge.net/ and its free, however I don’t know of any free ones that do a batch conversion.

For paid for versions, pretty much all Audio Editor programs will do it for you.

Hope this helps

Audacity does a good job, but one file at a time. Is thee any software out there that will do many files at once?

mp3 gain only works for mp3s, not wav files. I'm looking to gain balance several wav files (batch)

Audacity will batch normalize wave files:

1.Open your first wav file.

2.Project/Import

3.Audio Import all of the other wave files that you want to normalize as a batch.

4.Edit/Select/All

5.Effect/Normalize

6.File/Export Multiple

Be sure to select a different folder when exporting & make sure to select .wav

If you don't select a different folder Audacity will over write the current folder files. Your choice. But you may want to try before over writing.
