I have been playing around today with comparing the OTS settings for styles from my T4 to see if they could be used on the S950. It is really interesting to see that even though many of the T4 OTS voices can be found on the S950 Yamaha did not use them in similar styles. S0, if I re-voice some of the S950 OTS settings I wonder how much difference there really might be????

Stay tuned right here and I'll post several styles I have been playing with and record both the original and re-voiced version with a T4 comparison.

I did the first two styles. Full songs recorded on each keyboard, converted to MP3, the normalized using Audacity. Take a look at the entries with numbers such as
#1 and #2. Should be self explanatory.

I don't know much about FXs. It will become apparent that one of the keyboards has a heavier dose of FXs on the lead voices. Might be fun if I learned about that and played around with it a bit.

I don't have a Tyros or a S-950...but I am enjoying reading your posts and seeing the joy you are getting out of your keyboards.

Hi Eddie,
Yes, I am enjoying my keyboards more lately. Since my spine surgery I am very limited to how much I can do these days so I have many hours to just play with the stuff I never had time for before. Right now I play only 1 gig a week and pretty much just hang around the house the other days.

I am actually enjoying my time away from all my responsibilities. I might want to rethink how I have my life structured after I get fully recovered. I turned a paying hobby into on of those 'JOBS" that we all hate to have.

Good to hear from you,
Deane

Deane, I just had my back surgery too and I'm limited to what I can do as well. Hope I can be as effecient as you are. I bought the S950 to help me recooperate and challenge my mind.

Hi Paul,
I had Cervical Spin Surgery on August 29th. A real setback for me. It has taken 10 weeks to even begin to get any stamina back and the tingling and numbness sensations are still present 24/7. Docs tell me they will subside with time but I am beginning to doubt that. Anyway, enjoy the S950, it is a really nice keyboard and it looks like it will replace my T4 for gigs.

Hope all is going well for your recovery too!

Thanks, Deane..My surgery will be a year on December 14 and I still have the tingly and numbness in my legs and feet. I now can't walk more than a several hundred feet without stopping and resting. My other problem is that I can't seat too long either without the pain in my lower back.
Hope best recovery for you..
Any how, I am very excited and can't wait to get my hands on the kb.

Hi Paul,
I know there are many health issues for which science is still looking for a cure such as cancer and mitochondrial disorders. I was in hopes that spinal surgery would now have answers. Seems like the best outcome in many cases is simply
stopping the progression of more serious harm.
