Which is the best, most 'user friendly' zip programme to use please?

If you are using Windows you don't need a program, it is already built in. Are you using XP or Windows 7?

Hello Nigel and Tony,

I'm using Windows 7 Home Premium at the moment. It should be Windows 7 Professional which I downloaded and paid for from Microsoft when I first got this PC but after a recent update by HP, everything was put back to basics and so far I don't seem able to get the 'Professional' back despite trawling through the Microsoft so called 'Help' section. In view of this, will I still be able to zip up my songs, if so how?

Thanks in advance for your help.

Put your songs you want to zip in a folder. Then right click on the folder and you should see an "Add To Zip" option. It should put the contents of the folder in a zip file using the name of the folder. You can always rename it if you want.

Also the right click menu have a "send to" option, within that you'll find "Send to compressed folder".
Same as Zip. smile

Cheers

Thanks Nigel and Gunnar Jonny,

I've tried both suggestions. The first one told me there was a problem possibly too large - quoting 5.72KBs and my folder shows 1.74KB - so there shouldn't be a problem there.

The second try was using Gunnar's method and again the message said it was probably over the 5.72 maxmum size, whereas my file shows 5.40.

I've now given up - it's too much 'hassle' but thanks for trying to help anyway.

Audrey, there is nothing really to be gained by zipping up your songs. MP3 are a compressed format already and are unlikely to get any smaller by zipping them up. In fact it is possible the space they take may even increase.
