You could be in danger of damaging your Bose.
I know people do it all the time, but I would never connect from keyboard to PA through headphone out.

It's not meant for that.I don't know why people do this.
Why make left and right outs at all.

Plenty of headphone output attenuators out there...

I actually use my G70's headphones output to feed a pair of Mackie self powered hotspots. That way, even if the band PA is mono, or not enough auxes to give me L+R back in stereo, I can still monitor myself in lovely, lovely stereo (and blend in the band sends on other input channels).

Now the Bose apparently has no input attenuation (yet another strange oversight when it comes to Bose connectivity), but you can go to Radio Shack and get a headphone attenuator (something like this: http://www.amazon.com/Koss-155954-VC20-V...hone+Attenuator ) and your problems are solved.

That way is OK to go Diki. But,why would anyone use only headphone out instead L&R outs.

I believe the volume knob on the Compact is attenuation. I know if you turn it up too far, you get overload signal.

Most of the powered speakers like the Bose Compact and keyboards now are designed to accept headphone level signals (e.g. iPods, mp3/cd players, etc).

Well Diki is using it to feed his HotSpot monitor while the L&R outputs feed to the main.

And many mid to lower end arranger keyboards ( including Yamaha ) don't have L&R line outs, they just have headphone output.

Thing is, most arrangers don't have an independent volume control for the headphone outputs, so if you want to send a decently beefy signal from the main outs, the headphone outs are going to be pretty much up there (compared to line level). This is where, if you have a need for using the headphone outs AND the mains, one of those little attenuators is a handy dandy piece of kit to have in your cable case. Many boards (I know the big Bose's don't have an RCA attenuation knob, didn't know the Compact has it - about time, too!) have little control over the RCA outs and ins if any.

One of these can save your butt when all else fails. $10 well spent...

PS, I've also used these to attenuate RCA outs going to digital recorders that sometimes (H2, for instance) have no analog input attenuation. 1001 uses!

If you are not driving it to distoration (clipping) you won't hurt it.

My first ex-wife drove me to distoration. I think that means a cross between distortion and desperation, right?
