My mistake.

I'd jump all over this... IF you really need a separate module for the SRX cards. I still haven't heard whether this is for live gigging or just recording at home (where the SRX board in the G70 is still your best bet, IMO)

EDIT.... oops! just noticed this is Hungary. Red flag! But as long as you don't need one immediately, it might be worth waiting for a domestic one to come on the market.

Finally ( I think?)I've got the string sound I want.

BRIGHT STRINGS 2 in the BK7 module afterall.

I want to use it on Stranger on the shore (Acker Bilk style)

My sax player does a nice job on this and I worked out a

string arrangement based on the original version.

I will be using Midi accordion for this with the BK7.

Thanks for all the suggestions guys

Frank

If you ever want to silk up your strings a hair more, layering a smooth synth string patch in the background can go a long way to making it lush.

Try shortening the release of the string sound a hair (so you can do short runs without too much smear), but lengthen the release of the string synth patch a hair (depending on how long it is already) to smooth out the gaps. It's an old trick, but still effective...

I guess that's an SMF, right, Fran?

It sure could do with some Makeup Tools. Me, I'd turn down the velocity and volume on that closed hi-hat, and maybe EQ some highs from it. It sticks out like a sore thumb!

TBH, I'm not particularly impressed with that SMF except perhaps the clarinet performance. The string voicings are stodgy and dark, the bass line seems incorrect (at least to my memory of Acker Bilk's version), there seem to be no dynamics.

I am sure the BK could be Makeup Tooled to sound MUCH better than this... But major surgery seems needed for it to get to the next level.

Very tasty Fran, nice strings sound.

What style did you use on the BK5, do I have that on the BK7?

If I were you I would hold onto the BK5,a lot of money is lost

chopping and changing keyboards, I was that soldier.

I have to agree with Diki on this one...I found the balance was poor, and since I spent some time on the BK-5 whilst on a road trip a few weeks ago, I know it can sound a whole lot better.

I only tried it in style play mode, and I thought the accompaniments were very nice indeed, with a tad more detail than even the G-70.

The only sounds I found a little disappointing were some of the organ sounds...the rest were very nice.
