I have tried 4 times to record live gigs with my Korg MicroArranger using my Zoom H2 recorder and each time I get very distorted recordings. I can take the zoom to my Tyros 4 and it works just fine. So, what would prevent it from recording the Korg Micro. I use the headphone output on both the Korg and the Tyros 4 for the recordings. Puzzled.

By the way, my audiences absolutely love the sound of the Korg Micro Arranger - even to the point where they prefer it to my Tyros 4. Hmmm!

Hi Hammer

It sounds like your signal may be too strong. Cut back your recording level.

I have my people saying the same to me about my Korg Micro, even over my Audya. I suspect it is a combination of having my Audya in a smaller room, the great live styles of the Korg.

The Audya is very well received in larger venues for dancing, but it may be a little over the top in a smaller room of older people.

Deane,

Check the signal level on the recorder. It should not exceed about 50-percent of the VU meter reading. If it does it will distort. You can adjust the level by using the right or left arrow buttons on the front of the recorder.

Good Luck,

Gary cool

I thought I had the level set on Auto. I'll check it. I have noticed the KMA has a stronger output than my T4. I run my Bose L1 Compacts at 10:00 with the KMA and at noon with my T4 to get the same level of sound.

I found that turning down the inputs in an H2 does NOT turn down the signal going to the A/D converters. For some strange reason, the recording level is POST A/D!

So... if the level is too strong for the inputs, only turning down the output of whatever is feeding your H2 is the only option. I found that a simple mini-jack 'headphone volume control' like this: Headphone volume is a very useful and inexpensive accessory for the H2 when you are in a situation where the input cannot be turned down at the source. Most mixer's RCA Tape outs have no level control, so one of these is a must buy, IMO.
