My "at home" 7K comes on with sound as set.... after only a few moments, the sound decreases to about half....The volume is now set at the highest point. Has this happened for anyone else?

My "gig board" which stays at my gig, so far has not had a similar challenge, or any challenge at all. Yes, the sane thing to do is switch KB's....

That presents another challenge... The physical trade I cannot do... Would prefer to find a way to "fix" whatever needs fixin...

Anyone have a clue? Maybe one of the speakers? A wire? Cat hair? It is closed and covered when not in use...

Elizabeth wants to know...

Make sure the APC/Sequencer volume slide is fully up and the little light beside it is on...

Ok - when the volume of the music drops run the APC/Sequencer volume slide right down and back up again and I think you will find that the volume returns to its original level and the light might well come on as well...

Maybe the potentiometer is dirty and some contactspray will solve the problem?.

YES!!! That worked! I found that the light is for the Sequencervolume, and when that slide is not all the way up, the bass sound deminishes. Thanks Roger! Many thanks....

Bert...What is "the potentiometer"???? I looked in the index...
did not find it listed.

The potentiometer is the variable resistor which is controlled by moving the slider. Sometimes this resistor becomes dirty resulting in bad contact or crackling of sound when the slider is moved. This can be solved by spraying some contactspray and moving the slider up/down several times thus cleaning the resistor tracks.
It seems that your problem is solved now, so no dirty potentiometer.

Hi Bert - I'm having trouble with my modulation wheel at the moment, is that unit one which will benefit from a contact spray?

Hi Roger,
If the problem occurs when the modulation wheel is activated then a possible cause can be the potentiometer attached to the modulation wheel. This is the only movable part in this section of the circuit.
I checked the servicemanual. The modulation wheel controls a potentiometer on the bend pcb. The potentiometer is of the rotating type not a slide type. A slide type can easily be sprayed through the slit of the slider but for a rotating type it will be difficult to spray inside the potentiometer. I am afraid that you will have to disassemble the keyboard to get to the bend pcb and should have some electronic experience.
FYI: the partnumber of the potentiometer is EVA07115B14G. Maybe it is easier to replace the potentiometer.

Sounds complicated Bert - I've stuffed a bit of cardboard down the side of the wheel which seems to be doing the job for now...I've no use for a modulation facility anyway!!!
