Enjoying my new Pa3x I upgraded from the Pa500. It fits beautifully in my setup. I’ve had it for a week but I haven’t had enough time to discover all its functions yet.

The best:
Very solid, the best built keyboard I ever had after my Ensoniq SQ1. Very compact, even 10 cm. shorter than the Pa500. Many dedicated buttons and sliders, excellent keybed. The touch screen much more sensitive than the Pa500 makes it easier to work with it. The sound of course more powerful than the Pa500 (the output level is higher than the Pa500 still weaker than the Psr)

Disappointments:
Very few extra styles. Few DNC sounds (60) for the top flag arranger. The same pads. I know this is a fully programmable keyboard to make your own work but it would be great if Korg had given a breath of fresh air. Some of the DNC effects are very simple and can be imitated on the keyboard without using the assignable switches what makes them useless.

Questions:
-The EC5 pedal is not available in my country. Does anybody know if it is possible to build one? There are 5 pins in semicircle which probably belong to each of the pedal 5 switches and a central pin. I think if I contact the central pin alternatively with each of the other peripheral pins it will trigger the switches functions.
-To use the sampler in the Pa3x61 do I need the optional EXB 256 Ram?

Thank you

Hi Victor congrats with your PA3X

Why not buy a EC5 pedal on Ebay and yes you can use the sampler without the optional EXB 256 Ram. You will have 128mb standard onboard.

Hi Victor,
congratulations on the PA3X.
There may be more new styles than you imagine.
Some have the same name, but they're actually a different style.

Thank you everyone for the congratulations! I'm very happy, I work very hard and I always feel I deserve a big present once every two/three years. Next one will be the successor of the Psr s910 which might be arriving to Argentina in 2015 haha. Some people may think there are too many keys, that's true but I see this pile of keyboards as a work of art. It entertains me thinking how to build this "organ" and connect the parts among them.

Frans: it will be easier to order one instead of searching an Ec5 on E Bay. In my country we have "Mercado Libre" the latin american version of EBay and we have different products

Rikki: You are right the styles are quite different so I will save the Pa500 styles before I sell it. May be I ask you later for some of your great work, specially for extra pads that can make a style sound quite different

Duan O: Thank you!! that's what I needed. That schematic explains what I thought, but there is a little variation since pin Nº 3 is ground. I could make some buttons beneath the middle keyboard instead of a pedal

Stephen: your review on the pa3x got me very enthusiastic and I decided to buy it right away.

Jez: and more keys if you count the Pa500 which is on sale and the Ensoniq ws inside the closet!!

Hi Victor,
definately save your styles on PA500 before you sell.
I'm still going thru the process of comparing my PA800 styles to PA3X, while I've still got the pa800, makes it easier. There's a number of styles missing on PA3X that were on PA800, & naturally there's a number of new PA3X. As for some of the styles that still have the same name, some are completely new, some may only have new intro's /endings.
Once you've got yourself sorted out, I can send you the missing PA800 styles , as I do them. I'm sending them to a couple of new owners already.

Hi Victor,
Congratlations on your new Korg Pa3X acquisition.
Impressive pics, and the most keyboards I've seen
so tightly arranged & well organized in such a small space.
I'm esp impressed by the very compact looking
size of your new Pa3x.

Scott smile
