Thanks all for the input. Did these (behringer) ever fail on you? I'm worried that since it is cheap, it may not be reliable...

Again, I will use it for live performance of the tyros 4 and wireless mic system, and possibly another wired mic, connected to two powered 1k watt ev speakers.
Do you guys ever use effects for the tyros? If yes, can it REALLY make it sound better?

Shim

I used a couple of Behringers for 5 or 6 years and they never failed. Except for a power supply cord on the little 802, it's pretty flimsy. The bigger ones have been faultless. I sold one to Semilive and he still uses it .

I've been researching mixers, reading reviews, etc. IMHO the best at a reasonable price point for performance and build quality are the Mackie 402-VLZ3 ( under $100) and the Mackie 802-VLZ3 ( under $200 ).

Many recording engineers on another site have said these are excellent for the money. So if I were to buy one now it would be one of the above. Probably the 802 as it has a lot more capability.

I have been a long time Mackie user....but this is the mixer, that I would not trade for any Mackie...Edirol M-10DX..

Here are examples of why I use the Edirol...Same singer smile..same G70 smile and same Samson Q7 mic....The recordings were made a day apart, as I was not trying to make this comparison ..it does show the Edirol..works...

I used a different instrumentation, because this was my project at the time...All were recorded on a Tascam DR-07...

Here is the link ..

PS: disregard my vocals..I am no Donny or Uncle Dave.. frown

I use different mixers for different situations. I always run a balanced signal (Tip Ring Sleeve TRS - 1/4" to XLR) to my powered speakers.

Sonar VS-100... Bought on blowout at Best Buy for $190... New $499 to $599
---Built in SD Recorder/player
---2 XLR and 2 Stereo In
---Built in FX
This is the main mixer I use for our duo shows.

Edirol M-10DX... $150
---Back up mixer... always in the van just in case!
---Great Little Mixer

Mackie DFX-12... $200 back in the day... I got it in 1999 or 2000
---For bigger gigs
---12 years old and still going strong

Yamaha n12 in my home studio

Yamaha MG10/2... Bought used for $50

Looking forward to the new Yamaha MGP16x for $799
---16-input 4-bus mixer
---8 channels of single-knob compression
---Dual FX - One SPX and One REV-X
---iPod connectivity - Steel chassis - internal power supply

It's funny how we spend so much on a great keyboard and run the sound through a $100 mixer.

What are your needs?
I bought an Alesis mixer that records what it hears on to my IPod. List for about $375 Sam Ash on line had a special for $175.

Bachus,A good question.
I was about to change my Mackie mixer for a Yamaha in the same price range. Side by side I heard a notable difference; the Mackie was better by far. Same instrument, same settings.

Fran this is what got:
Sorry, the Edirol M-10DX is no longer available. We've left this page up for reference only.

Do you have another recommendation? I remember what you said about helping the Mids with an Edirol 10DX mixer.
