Well its almost time for the 2012 Musikmesse, which in most cases means more of our type of keyboards, (NAMM tends to be more pro synth) so what do SZ members think may be announced.

Details here

I think its time for Roland to get back intoo the TOTL arranger buisness...

The looks of a Fantom, with a new audio styles system, combined with Super natural sounds and their V-piano stuff in a 76 keys board would put them back on top....

But then this might be wishfull thinking from my part, tough i have had that feeling that Roland is planning something really big for quite some time now.

I could see Yamaha push the S950

But that should be about it forn arranger land.... Ketron is still trying to get the Audya to where it belongs, Korg is still very happy with the PA3X... and i don't see them releasing a PRO version or a rack version any time soon.

The software arrangers are too small to give it a try at the MEsse.

Wersi hasn't been to the Messe in many years, While Bohm and Orla are not doing anything sensational.

GEM has died.. as well as Technics.

Maybe Casio and Borelli are the ones with the surprises, which says more about the state of current Arrangers then about the Musik messe...

And i don't see any newcommers enter the Arranger Market either....

So if there ought to be something sensational and new at the Messe, it can only be Roland.... And most people will disagree with me on that too....

So the Messe might be just as bad for keyboards in general as the NAMM was..

Roland Bk5 will be the only arranger they push now.

Hi Bachus

Wersi products were there last year (On their own stand) and they are also there this year.

Remember Wersi no longer exist, the brand name is owned by Music Store Click on the Musikmesse picture

An Ketron arranger app running on your ipad... at the normal ipad app price of $4,99... that will not happen.

more like ipad software to controll your midjay...

Hi Bachus

Nothing confirmed from Wersi, however there is a lot of stuff in the pipeline for both OAS 7 and the Pegasus Wing, so keep an eye on the Wersi website and forums. (The beauty of it all is that you will not need to buy a new instrument to get them)

BTW Wersi Direct has re-launched the Abacus Pro, details here

The kiss of death with a Wersi, here today, gone today, at least Ketron, however bad they are, they have managed to weather the storm, I have not got a clue why, perhaps DonM, Bernie8, Robbo, and me for buying one , if I missed someone don't be offended. sofa

Donny, do you like the Wesri Wing, according to Billy Abacus if you buy a Wing and you will never buy another KB ever again, not certain what that really meant, ween you off KBs altogether, perhaps Donny you better buy one, don't pay by Paypal pal, not in a music shack near you and Frankie is not a dealer. Looks like a flight to Germany Donny.

You guys are overly dramatic regarding Wersi. Had you called in advance before headed to Wersi USA, Ralph or Chris would certainly have accomodated you with a personal demo. They closed the small storefront long ago but have been alive and well all along. Chris handles all service and upgrades and Ralph handles sales and support. I've received nothing but excellent support from them and highly recommend purchasing from them.

Tony, I think you have a personal issue with Wersi that is very apparent in your posts. If you aren't willing to make a short trip in the UK to see the Wing in person then why not just shut up. Clearly your not serious about purchasing one but are hell bent on slagging a product you haven't seen in person. Wersi UK isn't that far from you so take a drive, take the train, and save us the hassle of your general pessimism.

Tony, in all due respect, I don't enjoy flaming a brand of keyboard unless it's in the context of referring to real specs or qualities of that keyboard. You're being disrespectful to the people who enjoy the Wersi.

I've never even seen a Wersi, and my impression is that I couldn't afford one, so it's no skin off my back ... but well I said what I said.

BTW, usually I enjoy your posts.

Beaky,

I but jest and only as few people take any notice of my ramblings these days.

However I will take you up on what you said:

"You're being disrespectful to the people who enjoy the Wersi." shocked

To the best of my knowledge if you care to take a look on the Wersi Forum, Billy Abacus could do with a few of those people you mentioned to talk to him, he's on his own in there. juggle

Seriously Beakey, there are few KB nuts, if you cut their heads off they would have their favorite Organ or KB name in there like Blackpool Rock. rotf2

I listened intently to the wing. No doubt about it the samples and features are first class. But here is the problem, software has yet not been able to reproduce styles to a quality of a tyros 4, korg 3apx or ketron.

I don't know why this is the case because you would think today that they would have had it hands down. So for me the wing will not do, because the quality of styles is important to me in an arranger.

I hope one day someone can overcome the limitation, because the world is certainly going topen up for us then

That's what I thought too Robbo, we have been spoilt with the Audya when it's not locked up and the Tyros 4 for styles.

You can directly play Yamaha styles on the Wersi with no conversion using OAA. If you feel Yamaha's styles are what you want, simply load them in and you're off. Not knowing the capability of the instrument is something I see happen all too often. Next time ask questions or crack open the manual before making presumptions.

It doesnt say Yamaha styles, its says Yamaha style format... which is nothing more then a bunch of midi information.

Totally legal, or yamaha would allready have sewed the hell out of Wersi. Its the same as all those soft-arrangers do. the copyright is not with the style format, but with the styles data itselves.

The main question is : what sounds better, a T2 style file played on T2, T4 or on Wersi?

Yamaha Styles:

Yes the Wersi will play them directly WITHOUT conversion up to the T2, (OAS 7 instruments require the OAA which has been standard for a number of years and is also available as a cost option upgrade for earlier OAS 7 instruments) however it does not come with any Yamaha styles, these have to be provided by the user.

Yamaha Mega Voices, Sounds & Drums:

Wersi has programmed its own voice set to match the Yamaha format, (They are not copied (Sampled) from a Yamaha) however because the Yamaha & Wersi use different sound engines they will never sound exactly the same, in addition they are also the programmers interpretation of the Yamaha sounds, so while the styles are the same, only the user can decide whether it suits them or not. (Remember many like Yamaha styles but not necessarily the smooth CD sound of a Yamaha)

All modern arranger keyboards are software NOT hardware; however they are closed systems that can only work on one specific type of hardware (Which normally in itself has limited expansion headroom) which cannot be upgraded when new features require an upgrade. (Hence you have to buy a new keyboard to get an upgrade of what went before)

The fact that nothing is copied sampled or supplied (Unless the dealer decides to throw some styles in) means there is no infringement of other manufactures copyrights.

You will also see on any full Wersi information brochure etc. that it does say that Yamaha, Akai and VST are the copyright of their respective companies.

NOTE: I am not a legal expert, but all the dealers, programmers and manufactures I have spoken to, have said exactly the same as I have said above.

Hope this makes things a bit clearer

Bill

Bill I said the Wing has first class sounds and features, what I would have liked to have said as well is, that I have heard another keyboard manufactures style Ketron/Yamaha that was converted to the wersi, and it either sounded as good if not better. The styles I heard in the promo video, I did not like at all. I know its a personal preference thing, but I think thats why Yamaha, Ketron and Roland have the larger market share.

So If you can oblige me with that, a demo that makes me a believer, then I will stand corrected, and will want to be updating to the wing.

Hello Robbo

You can do whatever you want with the style with the OAA on OAS 7 instruments; however I don’t think sound change has been implemented in the Wing yet. (It is one of the criticisms in the Wersi Forums, and as many of the previous criticisms have now been implemented via free updates of the OS then it’s quite possible that the feature will be added in the future)

Not having a Pegasus Wing I cannot vouch for what is available except what is in the manual, also I do not have the OAA as I am not a massive style player, and the all singing all dancing styles of Yamaha do not float my boat.

I have found these demos though which hopefully will give you an idea of what to expect with Yamaha Styles. (NOTE: I have no idea what settings where used and from the balance they were probably not professionally done)

http://www.wersi.no/demo/pegasuswing/wingyamahaintro3.mp3

http://www.wersi.no/demo/pegasuswing/wingrytmeryamahatyros2.mp3

http://www.wersi.no/demo/pegasuswing/wingyamahaballade.mp3

http://www.wersi.no/demo/pegasuswing/wingyamahapopflamencomm.mp3

Hope this helps

Bill

I am looking forward to the return of a very major Brand to the Ensemble Organ market(thats home organs to you and I) and they are going to be presenting some serious equipment.

Lets see, Yamaha, Roland, Wersi, Bohm, Orla are still players in the home organ market

Korg has never had any home organs, so they can not return to something they where never a part of...

Lionstracs Organ from Helmut has shaltered off.. very quiet from there

I don't see Hammond reenter the organ market

From Casio i am expecting everything, but not an organ

Clavia Nord will stick to the professional market

I once had an Eminent organ, but they turned fully towards the church organs.

So that prolly leaves us with Solton/Ketron or Farfisa and maybe a new Italian based organ... Cheep home organs from Ittally (compared to Wersi/Yamaha/Bohm/Roland), OR will we see the revival of General Music?

I think its time for the S950 and S750. And going by past timing, it won`t be long before we start to hear of the Motif XF rack, S70XF and S90XF as well. And a lot of time from now i.e later this year wink , a Black T5 would be in the launchpad as well smile
Only time will tell though. Fingers crossed.
