Can't believe this one right now, Donny unless you have another arranger in you hip pocket. It seems you're looking at the PA3x, but isn't that a little too big and heavy for your wants? And didn't you already have a PA800? I see you are also checking out the Juno Gi; no styles. So where are you going? Until Yamaha comes out with a replacement, the s910 is the best bang for the buck out there, IMHO.

I'm sitting in the same pond on this. I think I'd trade my s910 and KMA for a PA800. Don't know if the PA500 is worth a switch, but would entertain opinions.

Hi Cass....don't really know my next move yet, still pondering what my availabilities will be for MY NEEDS...no problem.
Good luck......you could always record all your SMF songs & to MP3 run them off the laptop and play the Hammond on top..lyrics on notepad files....so many ways to gig..if I can help you shout!

Good luck Cass

So, Donny, if your S910 sells, will you gig without a keyboard if necessary?

How would you manage to do that? You have at least a gig or two a day...don't you?

Are you expected to have/use a keyboard at all your gigs?

I'm not concerned, Donny just curious...I'm sure you could borrow something from Fran to tide you over.

You have no idea what you are getting to replace S910, or is it a secret?

I have it on good authority that Donny just got a midi accordion and is going to use it with an Audya module. You can take the accordion out of the boy but not the boy out of the accordion. Ah it is something like that. He has wireless midi so he will still be able to stroll around with it and sing O Solo Mio. His midi accordion has full size weighted keys so you folks out there can't bitch about the key size or feel. It also has 88 of these weighted keys. He has added a vst kazoo from his laptop for added realism. The button side of the accordion has rootless chord recognition to please folks like Scott Yee. To put words in Donny's mouth it "is what it is" and "as long as it works for me that's all that matters."

Just having a little fun, Donny.

Don't worry Tom...Donny has it all under control...he's a pro, remember, and you know the saying, "The show must go on!"

Hopefully that 88 note weighted key accordion won't have our lad in traction.

Donny knows very well what the dream kit is, once and for all, because Bill Abacus has told him, Tyros 4 on top with a KKW (Korg Kronos Workstation) below, bill has studied this very carefully, coming from a Wersi man it must be good advice.

Good Luck with your choice Donny, we all wait with excitement.

I never listen to anyone, No Offense when it comes to buying gear for MY NEEDS, my ears are my guide,....being a home player vs a pro gigging on stage player is very far apart.
With a few offerings looming in the wings to be released soon..I'm hovering in a holding pattern at the moment but that could change at the drop of a hat....I could go older or newer or stay put. Appreciate all the info posted, gets one thinking!

Tony, after hearing the Kronos YouTube demos you shared with me, and having had experience with the original Korg Karma some time ago in the studio, I'd say it is the perfect companion to a Tyros4.

Dream kit for sure.

And you have the advanced playing skills to make great use of such a combination...even though you mainly play at home.

I can see Donny's point in that an arranger would do the gig job on it's own, and probably simplify setup/teardown, but, having both the Kronos and Tyros4 on a gig would be the bomb.

The world would be your oyster, even though it's going to cost you a few clams. wink

I don't envy people, but I'm coming close to it with your possible purchase of the Kronos to use as a companion to your Tyros4.

After all the problems, issues, and frustrations, you had with the Ketron Audya, and in spite of how great it sounds, I know you'll be glad to see those end cheeks go out the door.

Korg's reputation is far better, and you can rest assured you will get great support, especially on Korg Forums, and also here on SZ.

Great choice, Tony,

Ian

Hi Donnie

Sorry, they do not have a boom mic for that stand. To tell you the truth, I don't really like a mic boom coming straight at my face.

Thanks Guys...I know the stand is really heavy but it looks SOOO cool on stage.

I hope Tony and friends understand the Kronos really is a beast of a Synth, but not really good for arranger playing. It's also a really deep programming tool. If you have good cpu skills and sound design aptitude, you should have a blast with it.

Great setup!! I hope these wedding goers know how much technology they are getting for their money.

Do you use your iPad for lyrics/chord charts/setlist??

I hear ya Donnie, I always say " embrace diversity" we could all learn a thing or two from each other.

I took some welding in high school, I wonder if I could just weld a boom male attachment to the side of this stand???? sounds like a DIY project.

Hi Jonathan,

Thanks!

Yes I love using the iPad2 for those functions works like a charm. What you don't see by the pedals is a BlueTooth pedal called "the Cicada" for the iPad that will turn pages for me automatically when stepped on. If I have a multi-page score, I simply press the pedal to the next page. If I need a Coda, I simply press the back pedal to go back a page.

I set my songs up in SetList order and then scroll through them one by one. The software is easy to setup with Drag-n-drop, so it's a breeze. I have since put a screen protector on the Ipad to cut glare and protect it from dirt. I no longer need the Tyros 4 music stand on gigs, so that stays at home. One of the cool things with this software is I can setup special requests songs to DJ right in with my playlist and play the MP3's in the iPad. Works like a charm.

Which app is that?

I've been looking for a way to leave my music tub at home. I'll have to check out the Bluetooth pedal. I told a few people at Yamaha to make the lyric thing easier to sync to sequences and audio files within the motif/tyros sequencer. No luck yet but they came out with the Notestar App. Right idea but I want control over the technology.

I did see a few apps...
Live Trax Pro --- Lyrics and background tracks
OnSong --- chord charts and backing tracks geared towards worship leaders

Thanks in advance for the info,
Johnathan

Ian stop worrying,

Donny is slipping the anchor under the cover of darkness, in other words retiring, basically he’s either run out of KB to try or his Doris (Wife) has said “enough is enough big boy”

It's nice to have a change now and then keys

Donny,

A good sales tactic is to reduce the KB asking price each day, by, say 50 bucks!

Good Luck

Ha Donny,

You may have sold it but does your Doris want a cut of the proceeds from the sale, new dress etc, I think if you do as Don Mason says it will be a keeper even for you, you won't be sending a Pa3x back, go for it Donny, go down to Franks "MAKE'A HIM'A OFFER THEY CAN'T'A REFUSE" Capiche??

They need you money right now

Methinks Donny is planning on getting a PA3X, if the plethora of demos of said instrument is any indication.

Good stuff, Donny. I guess we've strayed off topic here, but what the hey, it's Valentine's this week.

Don,

There's only one video here, it's good. Frank hasn't got any Audyas in, has he?

Cheers

Tony
