Hello, I just joined the board and just took delivery of a Ketron SD3. I play a Roland FR-7 Digital Accordion (an incredible instument) and am looking forward to experimenting with the SD3. I was just wondering if anyone out there has used an SD3, or XD3 with an FR-7 and if so, how did it go?

Hi Jim, I have just joined this BBS (2014) and have been looking for similar info to you (in 2008). I have had some issues setting up midi between my FR-7 and SD3 bought in December and I wonder if you were able to set it up to your satisfaction and how you have it set up? I ended up using sequencer input on FR-7 for most channels because I got frustrated trying to work using accordion MIDI channels. Bass was no problem, but trying to get bellows + accordion + SD3 sounds got too hard. If you managed to enable yours to play like an accordion but produce lovely SD3 right and left I'd be grateful for any info...I also found when I changed accordion couplers (eg master to 2 middle reed) it automatically changed the SD3 treble voice, which was unwanted. I'm sure I can do better but it's hard without user help. Anybody who has experience with this equipment, I am eternally grateful for more input please!

With the Midi in Roland, the set up is pretty simple. You will have to block unwanted transmission from the Roland to the SD3 so that you still maintain your expression needed for the Roland sounds but have full control over the lead and left (accomp/bass/Chord) played by the SD3.
