Basic difference is, there are now some basic editing tools. Which is handy. You can import & export individual tracks. So basically you could set up a bit of a database of phrases. It does the newer keyboards. Whether or not it does a better job of the conversion than the earlier version, hard to say.
EMC definately does a better job of some style catergories than others. Unfortunately some of the types of styles I use it doesn't do a brilliant job.
So I really don't use it a great deal.
Having said that, I still wouldn't be without it. I've had it for the last 20 years, and it's been a bit of a security blanket for when I used to swap me keyboard brands every other year.
Where possible I convert manually from a midifile of the style ie I use OMB & varranger to create my midifile of psr/ketron style, then I edit it to suit my korg.
I only use emc for technics or roland style as I don't have access to either keyboard.

Thanx Rikki....I have Universal 2000 and it really works well.....but it doesn't support the newest arrangers that's why I was asking....is there and update ?
Hi Donny, ok, if it works well for the type of styles you normally use
newest keyboards that it now converts From Korg - PA3x Ketron - Audya Roland - BK7m Yamaha - Tyros 4
Plus it still does the Technics Kawai Gem & Wersi's plus the previous models for Korg Ketron Roland & Yamaha's
In short pretty much everything is covered. There's even an OPTIONAL Band in a Box convertor.
Song to Style Convertor
The Style Editors Copy Tracks Swap Tracks Event List Edit Load & Save Individual Tracks
Logical Editor Lets you do certain editing functions in Bulk? rather than doing each track individually ie deleting notes, transposing, changing velocities etc etc
Last but not least Import/Export of midifile as a style to a pc sequencer.
As I said, haven't spent much time with it, so not sure how bug free it is. Did have a bit of trouble trying to convert a particular Roland style to PA3X, did work as a pa800 eventually.
I can load one of my early PA800 ( pre guitar mode ) banks in & try converting it to PA80/60?? no editing , just as is to give you a rough idea of what you might expect in the way of tweaking required.
What Genre of Style would you like. (send me an email of where to send)

With regards to conversion from Ketron AUDYA, you would be missing the AUDIO Drums, Bass and Guitar parts (especially those added by the AJAMSONIC and/or OS 4.2 USB pen drive).

AJ...where can I listen to demos comparisons to the factory vs the Ajamsonic upgrades? or do I have to come to the lab?
Hi AJ, got me beat to how it could possibly convert Audio parts. Never tried it. But it's part of the list.

I've been "eavesdropping" on this interesting conversation and am curious about the cost of the Styleworks Software. My primary interest would be to convert sytles from other Keyboards and manufacturers into .sty files for my old Yamaha PSR-2000. In most cases, I end up "tweaking" the style's tempo and "Voices/Instruments" to suit the needs of the songs I write.
I work in several genres and never do anything with MIDI hookups but would like to be able to convert MIDI styles into .sty files as well.
Cost of software and learning curve involved would be my two primary decision parameters for acquisition. I'd rather spend my time composing and writing than doing "tech" stuff.

They used to have a demo version, couldn't find it.
Also you used to be able to buy for individual keyboards ie korg or roland etc which meant you could buy for a single destination keyboard ie yamaha, you could still convert from different manufacturers, but the converted style could only be used on yamaha. Appears there's only Universal now which is rather pricey, unless I've missed something.
When I refer to midifiles , I'm not talking about song midifiles.
EMC does convert song midifiles into styles. Personally I've never had much luck with the type of songs I play.

Hi, and happy new year to all!
Just contact Klaus at EMC , and you'll get a demoversion. Sadly it works only 3 days, and not fully functional as I remember it. I think he pulled the demo off the downloadsite due to piracy issues.
During the years I had a lot of fun and joy converting files, but do the editing mainly at the keyboards. And yes, there is some tweaking needed, but it gives you a good starting point. Also I see there are some new layout and module in the last XP Universal updates, so I guess I have to take time to explore.... someday.
Hi Jonny, I can imagine klaus would have had some problems with pirating. I would have thought the system he uses for protection would have made it pretty safe, though there's obviously some pretty smart hackers out there. One thing I must say though, whenever something goes wrong, and one needs a new code for the software, he is very quick to respond.
Pity he dropped the individual versions because they were cheaper & a lot of people are fairly loyal to a particular brand of keyboard. Probably to much work to keep all the individual versions upgraded .
