the upgrade adds the ability to use the FC7 foot controller to turn on and off the melody intelligence function (harmony). Also the BK-7m now supports both MIDI Visual Control messages ( a new standardized way of remotely controlling external video devices) and the V-LINK protocol (the precursor of MIDI Visual Control messages.)
The upgrade also adds 39 new oriental tones and 2 new oriental drum sets (middle eastern sounds)

Don, I actually like it that way. You can still use the module screen and see the lyrics on the monitor.
I understand it doesn't fit your needs though. There should be an option to do it either way, but I don't see it anywhere.
