I know the Bk7m can receive midi data from a computer through it's USB port, but can it receive midi data from a keyboard controller through USB? I was thinking something like the CME UF70 w/wireless USB (standard) to control the BK7m directly. Anybody know? Diki? George? DonM? Anyone?

Just talked to Don Patterson and he asked the same question. His unit is on the Brown Truck for delivery so maybe he'll figure that out when he gets it.
Mine is boxed up ready to go back for replacement.

Thanks Don, mine will be here Thursday. I guess I got a little impatient 'cause I wanted to order that UF70 controller KB, but only if I could use it that way. I know that I could use standalone wireless USB tx/rx which has standard 5-pin midi i/o but a nice integrated unit would be kind of neat. Then with wireless broadcast for the PA, we'd only have to figure out how to get some wireless electricity to the units (well yeah, I guess you could use a battery pack). Ummm, I'm getting carried away here (but I'll bet some of you have thought about it smile ).

I'm not that sure I'd want to go wireless.... unless you are running around the stage with a keytar, what's the POINT? A wired connection is FAR more reliable. I don't even use a wireless with my keytar... stuck notes or dropouts are no fun! wink

I called them and the support guy said I was the first one to have a problem of any kind. He said it was obviously defective and to send it back for replacement or repair.
My dealer is handling it.
I'm very disappointed. But thanks for the help.

I called the one guy at Roland that totally knows their arranger products. He explained to me that the USB port is only to be used as a midi interface with a computer. It has no driver internally to do anything else. I also asked about using the USB device jack and he didn't think this would support this either. The midi jack could be used with a wireless midi transmitter and receiver but I don't think that's what you want to do.
