I'm thinking of and ipod touch, ipad is too big, don't want or need the plan that comes with the iphone.
I want to map out motorcycle routes (don't need a gps or turn by turn I usually know where I am), check email keep a list of contacts and a calendar. Oh yea music too.
So I have some questions for anyone with experience

can i load up mp3's and videos I already have? some were ripped from the cd some from the album and some from limewire. can I do it from a pc. My mp3 player now just looks like a hard drive when I plug it into my pc. I like that.

can I enter contacts and other info from a pc or a keyboard?

all my remote interaction with the ipod touch will be with a pc will that be a problem?
I don't use itunes because, in the past, it tries to take over my pc and organize all my music and I don't want to change things.

can I save maps and view them even when I'm offline (wifi)

Are there any free apps that will help me accomplish my goals.
