I am looking into getting a recording gear but don't know where to start. I want to be able to have at least 8 tracks so I can record individual parts like guitar, vocals, keyboard, etc. and then be able to mix down to a master. My budget is around $1000. Any suggestions?

Thanks.
Phil

Thanks, DanO. I've been researching multitrack recorders. I stumbled on a Yamaha AW16G ($1099). It just came out in August I think. The specs seem to be impressive. What do you think?
