Get this: IT NOW HOSTS VST AND DXi!!! Wow!

Copied without permision.

The demo for One Man Band version 10.0 is available for download at http://www.1manband.nl/omb.htm

One Man Band is a software arranger (real-time and sequenced) and
style editor utilising Yamaha styles.

Some of the new features are:

VSTi and DXi hosting with support for ASIO drivers. This has been the
most requested feature in the last 4 years. So now you can plug in
your softsynths. In the MIDI-out settings DXi's and VSTi's can be
added to the MIDI-out list and then selected for each separate
channel.

Load the next style without interrupting the currently playing style
in live mode (switch-without-a-glitch). When the new style is loaded
it will take over at the start of the next measure.

Reduced latency version of the Microsoft synthesizer. The default
MIDI Out is now the JM synthesizer. It uses the same wavetables as
the Microsoft synthesizer but hasn't got the quarter second delay
before you hear a pressed key.

Style loudness correction to compensate for the loudness differences
between styles from different origins. Available in menu
settings/Style-loudness-correction.

Control all the different volumes with the sliders of a MIDI keyboard
controller in live mode. Define the controllers you want to use for
this in menu settings/keyboard-control-functions. In the same window
you can define MIDI triggers for each function, by specifying MIDI
port/channel/messagetype.

A new function is Block Tempo. If on it will ignore the tempo of a
new loaded style and play the new style in the same tempo as the
previous one.

Use wave sound effects in live mode. Wave files can be loaded in the
SFX panel in PC keyboard 2 and MIDI keyboard window.

Improved user interface. Arranger, eventslist and pianoroll window
will show more measures/events/notes when the window is enlarged. The
Window will scroll while playing in eventslist, pianoroll and
arranger window. OMB will start in the window that was last used.

Hi Starkeeper
I saw it on the Arranger forum. I think I may benefit from it. I am having trouble with installation of trial version, but I will get it sorted out.

The new improvements do sound appealing in the software realm.

Hi Bernie,
I'm running xp home edition. I've had it up & running for a while now.
The only real hassle I've had is that it doesn't appear to like my Live Synth Pro dxi.
Live Synth Pro won't do it's program (& I think controller changes). Jos tried to find awork around, but Live synth pro's just being a pain.

Hypercanvas & VSC3 dxi work really well with it.
SFZ+ appears to do program changes etc , so under normal circumstances it could be an alternative for soundfonts? but I've hit a snag, sfz+ doesn't seem to work too well with my dual core pc. I get stuck notes & it's got nothing to do with omb. I've read of another user having same problem with his dual core pc ( & he doesn't use omb).

I've also tried it with the free sfz vst ( loading a single font, & it appears to work.

I've just gone back to using forte with soundfonts
& for hypercanvas & vsc3 , omb's dxi option, works well.

Really like the new version.

best wishes
Rikki

Hi Rikki
This is great info. It is always easier to learn from someone who has travelled the same road.

Hi Bernie,
are planning on trying it on your
desktop with the XFi soundcard & soundfonts?

I've managed to come up with a bizzare new setup with for my laptop, with a mix of soundfonts, dxi's, & hopefully my sd2 plus the Clavinova for melody. I've just got to test for latency, & make sure the 2 soundcards I'm using don't clash.

best wishes

Hi Rikki
I have OMB up and running in both machines, but haven't learned it yet. Also, my SD2 arrived last night, and haven't yet hooked that up.

I have had a hectic playing schedule with my KN7000, but have to return to my ongoing project of becoming independant of my arranger. You are light years ahead of me,and will be counting on you to help me.

I would like to use SD1 and my laptop to provide styles while using my Receptor and my Axiom 61 controller keyboard as soon as I learn to send the various instructions via program changes and cc messages. I will start with using my Composer sequencer to test the SD2. Hopefully it will be better than my old Echo card.

I always dig a big hole for myself, then have to climb out.

More later

Hi Bernie,
just had a horrid thought. Did your store mention that you may require a usb to midi cable if you want to connect the sd2 directly to a laptop?? SD2 has midi In & Thru but no usb, so connecting to a controller keyboard with midi , shouldn't be a hassle.

If you're refferring to using the KN composer for testing, hopefully you won't have too many hassles. I remember the kn7 wasn't the easiest machine in the world to setup when it came to connecting it to sound modules & sequencers.

I tested the sd2 midi loops via Windows media player ( should also work for gm midifiles)
I just changed the settings in control panel
Sounds & audio devices
Audio
Midi music playback
to USB audio device ( or whatever name your usb to midi device comes up with)
then clicked on to the midifile & it played. Quick way to test all those loops.

best wishes
Rikki

p.s. if you don't have the cable, maybe the thru function on your controller could be used ie midi the controller to pc, and try midi thru controller to midi in sd2. Not sure if this would work.

I used my MidiSport 2x2 from the laptop to SD2 to play midi files saved in my notation program, and it works flawlessly. The quality is as good,if not better than my Echo Indigo. The percussion is better, and the drum loops are fantastic.

In addition, I now can access the additional banks with my Axiom controller, and later incorporate the drum loops into my accompaniment. Pretty exciting stuff.

I just started learning OMB and think that has evolved into a great program as well as the new BIAB.

It is good that I like challenges, or I would be overwhelmed.

Hi Bernie,
I'm happy to hear you're pleased with it too.
For such an inexpensive little sound module they sound quite good.
I'm hoping that some of my SD1 drum styles may be compatible with the SD2. Plan is to put together an sd2 drum loop library for omb.
If it works, you're more than welcome to have a copy.

best wishes
