Tyros2 friends:

Tyros2 OS 1.10 is now available for download. This OS update brings added support for IDC (Internet Direct connection), and also includes an important bug fix, correcting OS 1.00's inability to store a "Multipad" to a Style's OTS (1-4 buttons) settings.

Tyros 2 Update Version 1.10 (ZIP, 7,7 MB)

Instructions:
1. Unzip the above file into the root directory of any USB memory stick, or USB card reader with at least 10mb free
2. Turn off Tyros2
3. Insert USB Memory device into either one of the Tyros2's USB ports
4. Press and hold the T2's 'Start/Stop' button while turning on the Tyros2.
5. Follow the 'on screen' instructions, and then reboot the keyboard:

To verify that the OS 1.10 update installation was successful:

Press: Function > Utility > Owner tab
then press/hold "owner name" ('I' button} for 3 to 5 seconds. Program Version should now display 1.10:

Thanks to Yamaha-Europe forum member Geändert von Andimuc, for the link & screenshot pictures.

I've installed the above OS 1.10 upgrade succesfully on my Tyros2, and verify that it indeed has FIXED version 1.00's inability to save Multipads in OTS. Cannot verify what (if) other bug fixes are included in this update.

Scott

Hi Bebop, great to hear the OS Update went smoothly for you (as expected).

FOLLOWUP:

Before performing the OS Update, do an OS Version check first.

Some Tyros2's shipped from the factory with version 1.10 pre-installed, so running the 1.10 OS update is not only unnecessasry, but may not work either :

Tyros2 OS Version Check:

Press: Function > Utility > Owner tab
then press/hold "owner name" ('I' button} for 3 to 5 seconds. Program Version number should now display on Tyros2 LCD screen.

According to this post from Steve, .....

It's an update to the Practice function.

That's all.

So how is it that you determined there was more to it Scott?

Also a good note here for those that may have some trouble. Once the files are extracted to their pc, open the update folder and just copy the files inside it to the mem stick for insertion. The Tyros does not go into folders to look for the files it needs.
Terry

These are the files one is looking for:

6 files
ds store
installer program
main program 1-4

I downloaded the update and was all ready to install it on a friend's Tyros 2, but have stopped! He has been having IDC connection problems, where the keyboard has been very slow to recognize the USB WiFi adapter (or, sometimes, not at all). However, I cannot find this update, or any statement about it, on any of the Yamaha Tyros 2 web sites. I'm concerned about loading something that might be an unofficial beta release, as he uses the Tyros for his work. If my statement is not correct, please post a link showing Yamaha's support for this release. Thanks! - John

John,

They are obviously behind the release as noted by Steve's statement above.

The update is in on mine and zero problems with it.

I have the same thing with my IDC connection. I think that needs an update too. From what I saw though, unless you're interested in buying tunes or styles, you're not missing much. Perhaps the practice thing, I don't know, because I don't use it.

Terry - Thanks for the quick reply! If this update does not improve IDC, then I will wait until Yamaha addresses that issue in a future release. The keyboard is 100% usable in all respects other than IDC, and his need for IDC is not critical at the moment.
