On saturday I got my Tyros4 and the first thing I looked for was the Drummapping facility.
Yes it is possible now on the Tyros4, you can make your own drumkits with all the druminstruments you will find in the Tyros4.
I am really impressed ! This is great !

They have my attention. I hope the next PSR has the improved drums and vocal harmony.
I THINK I could make the Country drum patterns sound better by creating kits from some of the new sounds. There are few new Country styles on T4, but it seems like the old ones still use the $%&*& old drums.

Actually you can do better than that -- You can use your own WAV samples. There's just one catch: You need to buy the RAM upgrade so that you can load the WAVs.

I wrote about it here: http://www.synthzone.com/ubbs/Forum37/HTML/021929.html

Btw, you were able to do this on the T3 as well...

good day for all
Now (ten years after T1)the T4 drum kits sound right.
The news real brushes very good, the real drums good but the snare is mixed to high for my taste. We can program easely and quikly the kits (twenty is not suffisent for me)I have imported my own rim 's waves and the kits sound correct now ( do not compare with BFD or superior drummer).
The kiks is always dry i prefer a little wet like the real thing.
Many new styles in T4 , take time to listen; ballads for exemple
very supérior that on T3 probably because the "motif" sounds.
Great progres on T4

Sure it was possible to make your own drumkit on the Tyros3 but only with help of the computer and the voice-edit program.
But now it can be done at the Tyros4 itself and that is a real step forward.
And , which is important, it can be done easely.
Importing Waves is another chapter, more complex.
That is why I prefer the way of drummapping which is now possible on the Tyros4.

Hi Wis,

One of the frustrations on Tyros2 is the time consuming difficulty in tweaking the volume level of an individual drum parts in a given style: ie bass drum, snare, hit, stick, etc. This requires going into the style's drum track and locating every note occurrence of given drum part and individually raising/lowering it's volume/velocity.

To eliminate the painstaking steps above, Can one now with the T4 new built in drum mapping feature, simply import a built in T4 drum kit into the drum map facility and change the volume of a specific drum part and save it as a custom user drum kit and then save the original style to call up this user drum kit, instead of the factory one? Thanks. - Scott

I meant that on the T3 you could make your own drum kits or replace instruments on the keyboard drums with WAVs -- on the keyboard itself -- and it is pretty easy.

But if you want to mix kits from the Tyros itself, for that you do need to use the software.

When you want to get a lower volume for one druminstrument in the drumkit you want to use, this can be done very easy.
There is now in the drummap mode a volume for each druminstrument.
After editing the volume you have to store the drumkit as a user drumkit.
Now you take this drumkit for your style and there you go.....
