I think i read years ago that Hall and Oates used an early arranger...and i30, I think, for one of their hits.

I don't know the keyboard, but I think what I read was a newsletter from the manufacturer...was it Roland?

A while back, people were asking for creative samples of the use of arrangers. While I don't think that this particular sone, or anything from Hall and Oates is particularly creative, it is an example of an arranger used at a nationally recognized level.this was 15 years ago or so.

I can hear the song in my head but can't think of the name.

Interesting!

As far as I know it was a Korg I-series.

There was an ad in Keyboard Magazine with one of them endorsing a Korg arranger (I think it was Hall).

They also used an old Roland Compurhythm drum preset for one of their hits.

I believe the Korg arranger was used strictly for composing.

“I Can't Go for That” was the monster hit featuring the Roland Compurhythm.

A saxilo (similar to a clarinet, but with an upturned bell) solo by Charlie DeChant, percussion overdubs to put a feel on top of the CompuRhythm track and the trademark Hall & Oates lush, triple-tracked backgrounds — all fitting neatly on one roll of 2-inch tape — were all that was required to turn it into a hit:

Sorry guys but Oates is cracking me up because he is a dead ringer to a well known Greek football player of that era.

I imagine them trading places... LOL
