Anyone here (in the USA) have any old vintage drum machines laying around collecting dust that they want to get rid of? Not looking to pay the current price of a TB-303 though (yikes some of those are hitting over 2 grand on Ebay).

Sorry if it's off topic. Nigel you can move it if you like.

I like vintage drum machines but I wouldnt spend that sort of money. I would try to find a good software emulation for a fraction of the price.

Worth pointing out the TB-303 isn't actually a drum machine, it's that squelchy synthbassline unit popular with 90's acid house.

The TR-808/909's, again dance music 'classics' also go for silly money.

Techno,Techno,Techno,Techno for an answer..

Oops.., my bad ;-) I meant to say the TR-606 and not the TB-303. The 606 is the analogue companion to the 303. Shoot now that I think about it.., I wouldn't mind having both of those ;-)

The prices on these old analogue drum machines are getting WAY out of hand. The 808, 909, 707, and the 606 for example are just crazy high!

Nigel.., I agree there are some good software apps out there too. I guess I'm a stickler for the gear though. Propellerhead released Rebirth on the iPhone/iPod/Ipad too. Got that the other day ;-)

Hi Squeak_D:

It's funny you posted this topic about old drum machines. I was going through my retired music gear closet just the other day.

I have an AKAI XR-10 I bought new in I think 1988. Shortly after, I bought a Roland E-20 Arranger so I didn't need the XR-10. I used it twice and in the closet it went.

Other than a dusty surface it's brand new.

I also had a Roland Cr-78. Unfortunately it was thrown away many years ago. Didn't see any reason to keep it. Now I wish I had kept it. I do however still have my Roland E-20.

I did some research on the internet, but couldn't find any value listed on the XR-10

If you are interested in it, make me an offer.

Jim

Jim.., what are you looking to get for that XR-10..?? Have any pics.., are all pads, buttons, ect functional..?? I haven't seen one of those in years. So many rap and hip hop songs from that era owe it to this machine

Jim.., forgot to mention.., last time I saw these for sale (I think it was towards the end of 2008) they were going anywhere from $50-$100. It seams that it's the "analogues" that pull in the high resale value these days.

Squeak_D:

I've looked high and low for the power supply for the XR-10 but haven't found it yet.

So I haven't been able to check if all the functions work.

I'm sure they do, unless just plain old age has gotten to it.

I'll take a trip to Radio Shack and see if I can come up with a power adapter for it.

I'll send some pic's to your email address if your interested.

I found a web site called PrePal that shows the value at $96.00.

It's been setting in my closet for years along with other miscellaneous vintage stuff.

I have no reason to keep it, if it still works and you want it we can work out something I'm sure.

Jim
