Does anyone know if MusicPad Manager can be installed on Windows 7 32 bit? I understand they do not support 64 bit.

Graham, Yes it can be done. I have it installed on a Dell laptop with Win 7 32-bit only. I also have it on a Mac Book Pro with Windows 7 installed via bootcamp. Works just fine.

The disadvantage is that many newer Win 7 computers are sold with 4 gig of RAM. You need 64 bit Win 7 for the computer to recognize all 4 gigs. My understanding ( I have not tried to)is you can use XP compatibility mode to run Music Pad Manager. There is a caveat you have to have a processor that supports compatibility mode( not all processors do)also as I recall you need at least Windows 7 Pro or Ultimate version.

Freehand's future isn't looking so good. I haven't quite found an app I'm entirely happy with for displaying lead sheets with the ipad either.

Don't mean to hijack the thread, but I also am hoping the ipad will become a great lead sheet display device.

I have MusicPad Pro and I use it with a 64 bit computer. I installed the MusciPad manager on the computer and the software works fine other than the driver cannot transfer the file to the MusicPad. I transfer the files from the computer to a USB thumb drive, then I plug the thumb drive into the MusicPad and finish the transfer.

Jim, thanks for the info. When I read Freehand would not support 64 bit I assumed it wouldn't run at all, so I never did try.

When you install the software, select the customize installation option. You have to select what parts of the application to install. Do not select the driver for the USB connection. The rest of the software installs and works fine.

Thanks everyone for the input, that's more reassuring.

Jim, so, just to be sure, the Freehand print driver would create a file from Word or Sibelius operating on Windows 7 64 bit?

Stephen, I'm in the process of updating my desktop from Vista to Windows 7, and really wanted to take advantage of the 64bit use of 4 gig RAM.

I don't mind the idea of exchanging files by usb thumb drive. Seems it's not going to be for ever, just as long as my pad works. Shame!

Well I just spent the afternoon upgrading to Windows 7 64 bit. No luck, the Freehand Printer does not work.

Worth a try, but I'll try the 32 bit version tomorrow. :-(

Ditto!

Graham sorry to hear that 64 bit wouldn't work with printing.
