What's Up!
I love my Roland JV-1010!
I'll probably love it even more once I figure out how to use it! It's not doing what i want it to do. I'm not sure if it's me or the module. If anyone can help, let me know!
But anyway...
I'm using my Roland JV-1010 connected to my Hart's Dynamic Roland TD-6 Acupad electronic drumset connected to my Midiman Keystation controller, all connected to my Mac using Cubase VST 5.1.

Thanks!
m

Hi,

- 2 loaded JV-2080's (19 SR-JV80 Boards)
- 2 loaded XV-5080's (1 SRX, 11GB HD, 25GB+ CDs)
- and more, but this was a roll-call for JV/XP/XV...

David

I'm rather new here.
I have a JV-1010 which I control with a StudioLogic(Fatar) SL 880 and my Laptop computer using Voyetra Digital Orchestrator Plus. I also somtimes control the JV1010 with my Casio WK-1800. When I do that I receive channels 1 and 2 from the Casio and 3- 6 from the Fater and 7 - 16 from the laptop.

I'm only writing songs at home. This is my home studio set-up.

Guitars I have two, an Ibanez Artwood 100 CE, and a Taylor 310. Love that Taylor.

I want to lead youth worship music using sequences, a keyboard and acoustic guitar. So I'm thinking of investing in the XP-50 or XP-60.

Peace,
RW

I had a JV-90+techno card, now I have XP-80 + same techno card

The JV-90 was my first synthesizer and I loved it. Great sounds, lots of editing possibilities and a large keyboard.
I also had the Voice expansion board which was basicly a second JV with another 28 voices. You couldn't play the keyboard with 56 voices simultaniously tho (28+28 seperate)... and the voice expansion could only play patches made with internal waveforms.

I found that the JV-90 was a bit unstable for midi-sequencing. Really, I sometimes could hear the difference between MUTING a part and DISABLING one... meaning that the other parts would sound more stable with the part being disabled (no, they didn't exceed the voice-limit).

Now I have the XP-80!
Much more stable, more voices, waveforms, effects and a large lcd screen but it sounds very much the same.

Edit: It's hard to tell but maybe the JV-90 sounded a bit warmer

btw I use the ChangeIt patch editor, it's great!!! http://aragon.iitb.fhg.de/moss/Software/ChangeIt.html

Yup, IMHO the JV90 sounds warmer than the XP50/60/80. I have the JV1000 (= JV90 with a sequencer) and an XP60. Soon after getting the XP60, I started porting over patches from the JV1000, even patches with the same name on both keyboards, because they sounded better. BTW: I've sequenced with the JV1000 since 1993 and have never had any problems with latency or MIDI slop or the like, even with *very* dense sequences. Never once. Maybe it's just the individual keyboard?

Roland XV-3080

while we're on the subject of Roland - I have an old Roland M-120 line moxer. Do they make them anymore? Mine is pretty beat up and I want ot replace it with another or something else that's better. It takes up only 1 rack space and has 12 inputs.
