Friends,

I just thought I should start a different thead with this to clarify a few things many have presented here as not being able to be accomplished on the KETRON AUDYA. In light of this, I also wanted to mention some features that have been 'ignored' all together too.

1. STYLE EDITING.

You can EDIT styles on the Ketron AUDYA keyboard and save these styles as user styles (thus maintaining the original factory style). You can also EDIT User styles as well.

A. EDITING ON THE FLY!

* Select a STYLE.
* Press the STYLE VIEW button to display all style parts.
* Select the part you want to change (e.g Bass track) and simply turn the Data/Value wheel to select a new BASS instrument (Phrase remains unchanged. To change the Phrase, you will have to enter the PATTERN EDITOR available in OS 4.0).
* For AUDIO - the same applies. Select the AUDIO DRUM or LIVE GUITAR track or Chord 4 (Arps&Lick) track and change. You can select Audio data from a Bank for Drums, Bass and Guitars. When satisfied with the 'new' style, simply press SAVE to save it.
* You can also replace an AUDIO track (Drums, Bass, Chord 5/Live Guitar) with a Midi track (and the reverse is true) depending on what you want.
** For the above, you can also edit not just the VOICE, but the EFFECTS, PAN and apply the changes to either the ENTIRE STYLE (Arranger A-D ... etc) or just the current Arrangement selected.

B. DETAILED EDITING (OS4.0)

2. USING USER AUDIO DRUMS WITH YOUR STYLES.

As of OS3.0 you can use your own AUDIO DRUMS with your current Factory or User styles.
* Simply prepare your wave file so that it's length and tempo are set/determined by you. E.g Soca_A@100.wav, Soca_B@100.wav ...etc (the value after the @ tells AUDYA the root BMP from which it can/will stretch the Audio file with no pitch changes to match the tempo changes you'll throw at it later. The 'A', 'B' .. etc tells YOU which wave file you will assign to Arranger A, B, ... etc.
* Prepare all your wave files and copy into the USER AUDIO DRUMS folder of the AUDYA's Hard Drive.
* Activate USER AUDIO DRUMS=ON (STYLE MODE - DRUMS 2/2)
* Again, from the STYLE VIEW, press the DRUM1 button (F1). Now you have access to the Midi drums. Press again and you have access to the AUDIO drums. Press again and you now have access to the USER DRUMS from which you can turn the Data Value wheel to seach for the Audio drums you want to assign eiher to the current Arrangement (Singel) or the entire Arrangement (Global).
* Test/Play and repeat for all other Arrangement parts. Then save when satisfied.
*NB:- From this same screen you can press Chord 5 (F10) and choose either a Midi Guitar, or a Live Guitar or (in OS4.0 a USER LIVE GUITAR). Chord 4 (F9) can be used to toggle between Midi parts or Arp&Lick.

3. STYLE CREATION (Available as of OS4.0)

* You can create a style from scratch or build a style using style parts from existing styles (both factory and user).
* Select a User style and press EDIT to access the PATTERN EDITOR.
* Select NEW STYLE to create a new style from scratch or simply EDIT the current style selected.
* Here, you can COPY parts from other pre-existing styles into your styles.
* You can also copy their corresponding AUDIO parts (Drum, Bass, Guitar) or the Bass from STYLE A, GUITARS from STYLE B ...etc. It doesn't matter as they all pull from the same library.

4. MIDIFILE - DRUM REMIX.

* Select a MIDIFILE and replace it's existing Midi-Drums with a drum. To do this ...
* Press 'Midifile' to access the Midifiles.
* Press F9 to turn REMIX=ON.
* Now select a Midifile you want to play and press ENTER (for this example, select the file Doctor_z**). Audya will pre-load the file and START will flash waiting for user to select the style whose drums you want to use with the Midifile.
* Press any STYLE group button and select the style whose drums you want to use with the Midifile (for this example, press BALLAD and select the style POB_BALLAD_1).
* Now press START. The midifile now plays with the new style Drums. (When you press STYLE (<< ), you're playing with the STYLE'S Drums or you can revert to the original Midifile drums when you press MIDI (>> ) on the fly). Any tempo changes within the Midifile will be honored by the new drums as well. You can press Arrangement A-D, Fill ins, Breaks ...etc
**NB:- USER DRUMS can also be used with DRUM REMIX - Simply Edit a style to have it use USER DRUMS. Then use this newly edited style for your Midifile DRUM REMIX.

5. MIDIFILE - LIVE GUITAR REMIX (As of OS4.0).

Same as above, but now LIVE GUITARS can be added to Midifiles. It get's better - you can replace Midi Guitars with live AUDIO guitars from AUDYA within the Midifile; the chord changes will be automatically handled by AUDUA derived from the Midifile as it plays.

6. VOICE LIST (as of OS3.0).

You can Create for every SOUND GROUP (e.g PIANO, ORGAN, GUITAR ... etc) a Voice List which is 2 ages of your favorite 20 Voices in any order. These voices can be assigned to any STYLE so that when you select a style and press VOICE LIST, your favorite Sounds associated with that style are called up.
* To activate, press STYLE MODE - MODE 1/2 - Voice List to STYLE = ON (F1).
* EXIT to the default screen and press VOICE LIST to access the current Voice List.
* Press EDIT (Voice List Button flashes denoting EDIT mode). Select current location F1-F10 and select new voice for that location. When done, press SAVE [This process has beem modified in OS 4.0 making it a lot easier to create and save the current voice list and an entire USER VOICE LIST to Hard Disk for future recall].

7. INTERACTIVE LIVE GUITAR .... a feature not many know about.

* This featuer allows you to 'play' the LIVE GUITAR STRUMS with chords ... what other manufactures refere to as 'GUITAR MODE'. What happens is, when activated, if you play the chord hard (press fast on a chord to the left of the split point), the LIVE GUIATAR is 'replaced' with a LIVE STRUM ....you get to manually play the LIVE GUITAR part!
* Press STYLE-MODE and set the INTERACTIVE GUITAR value (F2) at '90' (the lower the number, the lower the velocity needed to activate).
* For this example, select the STYLE POP-BALLAD-1 under the BALLAD Style category and press ARRANGER B.
* Play the style.
* Now play a chord as though you were 'banging' on the keys a little. Notice how you can now play your own 'strumming' [I'll update on Youtube in a while]. But now you can go to the Chord 5/LIVE GUITAR and select any Guitar template from the table and apply the same effects.

8. VOICE TO ARRANGEMENT (as of OS3.0).

* Common future where you can assign a voice to each of the ARRANGEMENTS. This way, you can assign PIANO to Arranger A, Guitar to Arranger B, Choir to Arrange C and Sax to Arranger D. Now when you play a style, as you change from one Arrangement to another, the voice parts change automatically.
* Press STYLE MODE - MODE 2/2.
* Press F5 to enable (STYLE ENABLE ON) this feature.
* Press F10 to enable it Globally (apply to all styles) - GLOBAL ENABLE ON.
* Now use F1-F4 to assign the voice you want to use with the corresponding Arrangement (e.g. press F1 to assign a voice to Arranger A. Press the VOICE GROUP from which you want to select a voice, and use the DATA/VALUE wheel to access the individal voices within that group. Repeat for the other Arrangement parts.
* Now play and change from Arrager A-D.

9. STYLE BALANCE (OS4.0)

* Ketron has further balanced ALL styles now. However you (USER) can also balance to your liking ... STYLE MODE - MODE 2/2 -STYLE BALANCE. This wills set the over all balanced volume of the syle with respect to the LEAD/RIGHT parts.

10. MACRO RECORDING (OS3.0 I think).

This feature allows you to record all/selected events as you play on AUDYA (style, voice change ... etc). The file created is very small (smaller than midi)and can be given to another AUDYA user to reproduce the entire recording (as long as the equivalent AUDIO files are in both AUDYA keyboards). This makes is easy for someone to record and transmit via Email attachment to another AUDYA USER - AUDYA community?
* Press MENU and MARO RECORDING (F10).
* Select the contents of the Macro file about to be created and Name. Then start recording.
* How does this differ from a MIDIFILE? The control panel data is also recorded together with all events, audio/midi ... etc.

11. KETRON'S VCE (Voice Character Emulation) - OS4.0 or higher.

This new feature in Ketron products now reproduces the ARTICULATION involved in most wood-wind and Guitar SOLO instruments. While the AUDIO parts are a solution to the Arranger aspect because MIDI can only go but so far to reproduce real Guitar tracks, we have now added new Sounds which depending on how you play (velocity, key off, pitch and note from-note to characteristings, you will be able to recreate the instrument sound the way it was ment to be played (listen to breath and opening/closing of holes on Sax, fret noises and slides in Guitars, human breath in some Choir sounds ... etc. With this Articulation used with most voices, Ketron's Best Natural Sounds just got better!!

+++ MORE TO COME and as always, all discussions are welcomed!

Thanks,

AJ

OS4.0 is complete. Now it's a matter of how to release the 1.5GB massive update without crashing the servers.

We might have to go through the distributors ... dealers ... users via USB storage devices (not sure yet).

Thanks,

AJ

necdetdoni,

This is possible with AUDYA as of OS3.0 with the MSP (Multi Sampler Editor). The full Sampler is in OS4.0.

* Sample your individual Sounds that make up your drum set (Kick, Snare ...etc) and store as indipendent Wave files in the WAVE folder of the AUDYAs Hard Drive.
* When you have all the files in there, press WAVE, then press EDIT to access the MSP. Here is where you can assign each drum sample to whichever key you want.
* When done, test your kit and then SAVE your new MSP (e.g NecDrm.msp). You can now load this MSP anytime to use with any style. Remember though, it is advisable to follow the GM/GM2 Drum Map so you do not have to remap the kit each time you go to use this kit with an existing Ketron Style.

Hope this helps ... similar to what was in the SD1/SD1Plus but with a more powerful EDITOR

Thanks,

AJ

PS: Thanks for the OS4.0 suggestion(s) ... maybe a little more work for our distributors/dealers but it will be worth it - trust me.

Yeah i know this..but in SD1 you could mix wave and rom files files together not only wave files..for example kick and hihats from sd1 and snare from user wave file... and in Audya if you create a MSP as a drum set you cannot use in a midifie (midi track 10)!!! its very important for me for play ethnic and regional songs..it was possible with SD1

necdetdoni,

You're right. Let me look into this further. I think it was resolved in 4.0 but not sure yet. It works well for styles (using ROM drum kits with MSP), but not yet for Midifiles! Ops ...

Thanks,

AJ

so if i understand you correctly AJ the Audya does not have a true sampler as in the ability to sample sounds into the keyboard using just the keyboard and an external sound source ? and it does not as yet have a fully functional onboard sequencer ?

You could release it as a torrent, understandably not many here use them, but it would help deliver it without so much strain on your servers, as others will take a part of the burden.
