I currently use the T3. However I fly around the country a lot and lately have been slapped with hefty fees for overweight and oversize. I'm therefore strongly considering the s910.

I'm looking for reason why I should NOT do this, so that I can properly understand the disadvantages of doing this before deciding if this is a good idea.

Also, would my T3 custom styles work on the s910?

If you go with the S910 you will be losing the keybed quality of the Tyros 3.

you will also loose the 8 faders, SA2 voices, Sampling feature and front USB port.

on a positive note you will be gaining a weight and size reduction and MP3 playback capability.

I am sure most styles will work but some tracks may need re voicing because the T3 does have some voices that are not on the PSR S910.

Nick is right on, besides the speakers built in, is practical because you don't have to connect the keyboard to an external amplification source when you customize your styles at your home or studio.
I understand your traveling i$$ue.

I am very happy with my T3, and since I only travel locally, my T3 is a keeper.

Other than a few minor adjustments, I cannot see a reason NOT to buy the S-901. It's a great keyboard, it's lightweight, it's extremely powerful and will provide you with excellent performances.

The Tyros3 allows you to layer three voices in the right hand, the S910 can layer two.

For my style of playing, it made no difference to me, but it might to you.

The S910 does not have a hard drive, but uses an external flashdrive instead, which I also prefer....no moving parts.

hm, I am looking at the drum kits on my s910 and I see a Rock Kit and Arabic percussion. Does the T3 have special turkish percussion?

S910 all the way! Out of town is not CH and the 910 will be plenty. That's what I did for years, had a main one for local jobs and a simpler one for out of town. And in those days the differences were huge between the flagship and the portable. Not so with the 910 which is very very very smimilar to the T3 in many many ways.

Go for it.

Also, shop around. they can be had for under ~$1,400 if you shop well.

there is a catagory of styles called "world" on the 910. Yamaha has included 3 or 4 middle eastern drum kits and most of the popular middle eastern solo instruments including oud, ney, mizmar, etc.
I've taken all the turkish styles from the PSR710oriental keyboard, copied them to a USB flash drive and they all play perfectly on the 910. Only the Iranian and Khaligi styles do not play with the correct percussion sounds because the drum sets used with these styles are not in the 910.
